East Wake High School (formerly known as Vaiden Whitley High School) is a public high school located in Wendell, North Carolina, in the United States. It is part of the Wake County Public School System. The school serves the Wake County towns of Wendell and Zebulon as well as the surrounding unincorporated parts of eastern Wake County. Wendell, North Carolina
Wendell is a town in Wake County, North Carolina, United States. It is a satellite town of Raleigh, the state capital. The population was 5,845 at the 2010 census. History Incorporated in 1903, Wendell was settled in the 1850s, when farmers in Granville County were victims of a blight that came to be known as the Granville County Wilt. Their tobacco crops failed, and they chose to move to a new location with more fertile land for their crops. As settlement increased, a small village took form. The villagers asked the local schoolteacher, M.A. Griffin, to choose a name. Griffin suggested they call it Wendell, in honor of his favorite poet, Oliver Wendell Holmes. However, the townspeople pronounce each syllable with equal emphasis, not as the poet's middle name is said. The Town seal was adopted on April 4, 1963. Strength athletics, also known as Strongman competitions, is a sport which tests Strongman (strength athlete), competitors' strength in a variety of non-traditional ways. Some of the disciplines are similar to those in powerlifting and some powerlifters have also successfully competed in strongman competitions. However, strongman events also test physical endurance to a degree not found in powerlifting or other strength-based sports, such as carrying refrigerators, flipping truck tires, and pulling vehicles with a rope. Johnny Perry (October 24, 1972 – November 21, 2002) was a professional strongman competitor and professional wrestler from Zebulon, North Carolina, US. Perry finished fourth in the 2002 World's Strongest Man competition. The North Carolina House of Representatives is one of the two houses of the North Carolina General Assembly. Darren G. Jackson (born June 29, 1970) is an American attorney and politician, who currently serves as a judge of the North Carolina Court of Appeals. Greg Ellis (American Football)
Gregory Lemont Ellis (born August 14, 1975) is a former football defensive end who played in the National Football League (NFL) for twelve seasons. He played college football for the University of North Carolina, and was recognized as an All-American. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the 1998 NFL Draft, and also played a season for the Oakland Raiders.
