East Ridge is a neighborhood of Accra, Ghana bounded to the south and East by Sir Charles Quist Street. Independence Avenue serves as the district's western boundary. Castle Road separates East Ridge from the northern neighborhood of Osu. Originally planned as an extension to the historic Victoriaborg neighborhood, East Ridge is being transformed into a commercial and leisure district of Accra with the siting of the National Theatre and Efua Sutherland Children's Park in the neighborhood. East Ridge also hosts an entire area of government offices known as the "Ministries." With the recent plans to redevelop the racecourse into a mixed-used commercial area anchored by the new Kempinski Gold Coast City hotel, provision has been made to relocate ministries to be affected by the development. Accra International Conference Centre
The Accra International Conference Centre is an events venue in Accra, Ghana. Other venues include the Ghana Trade Fair Center and the National Theatre, but the Conference Centre is the most popular due to its size and capacity as compared to the National Theatre, and at the same time smaller than the Ghana Trade Fair Centre (which was built to host pan-African events). Osu, Accra
Located about east of the central business district, Osu is a neighborhood in central Accra, Ghana. It is locally known as the "West End" of Accra. Bounded to the south by the Gulf of Guinea, Osu's western boundary is the Independence Avenue. Osu is separated from the northern district of Labone by Ring Road. Due to its establishment as a settlement in the 17th century, Osu has a mix of houses dating from the early 20th century and modern office towers. Victoriaborg is a neighbourhood of Accra, the capital of Ghana. Formed in the late nineteenth century as an exclusive European residential neighborhood, Victoriaborg was located to the east of Accra's city limits of the time, behind cliffs where there was reported to "always be a breeze". National Theatre (Accra)
The National Theatre was opened in 1992 to spearhead the Theatre movement in Ghana by providing a multi-functional venue for concerts, dance, drama and musical performances, screenplays, exhibitions and special events. In Ghana, theatre as an artistic form has existed for centuries in the traditional dramatic expressions of society, however, the National Theatre Movement (NTM) was conceived around the time of Ghana's independence in 1957 to help remold the new nation's cultural identity. The Accra Sports Stadium, formerly named the Ohene Djan Stadium, is a multi-use stadium (40,000-capacity, all-seater) located in Accra. Ghana, mostly used for association football matches. Golden Jubilee House
Golden Jubilee House, or Jubilee House, is the presidential palace in Accra that serves as a residence and office to the President of Ghana. Jubilee House is built on the site of a building that was constructed and used for administrative purposes by the British Gold Coast Government. The previous seat of government of Ghana was Osu Castle. It was renamed Golden Jubilee House by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on 29 March 2018. The Parliament of Ghana is the legislative body of the Government of Ghana. History Legislative representation in Ghana dates back to 1850, when the country was a British colony known as Gold Coast.
