East Kilbride West (ward)
East Kilbride West is one of the 20 electoral wards of South Lanarkshire Council. Created in 2007, the ward elects three councillors using the single transferable vote electoral system and covers an area with a population of 13,737 people. The ward has politically been split between the Scottish National Party (SNP), Labour and the Conservatives. Each party had held one of the three seats from the ward's creation until Cllr David Watson resigned from the SNP to become an independent in 2018. The 2022 election saw the SNP regain their seat from the Conservatives. Boundaries The ward was created following the Fourth Statutory Reviews of Electoral Arrangements ahead of the 2007 Scottish local elections. As a result of the Local Governance (Scotland) Act 2004, local elections in Scotland would use the single transferable vote electoral system from 2007 onwards so East Kilbride West was formed from an amalgamation of several previous first-past-the-post wards. East Mains (ward)

Glasgow City Council is the local government authority for the City of Glasgow, Scotland. It was created in 1996 under the Local Government etc. (Scotland) Act 1994, largely with the boundaries of the post-1975 City of Glasgow district of the Strathclyde region. Graham Simpson (Scottish Politician)
Graham Simpson is a British politician and former journalist who has been a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the Central Scotland region since 2016. A member of the Scottish Conservatives, he served as Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure and Connectivity from 2020 to 2021. He was a councillor in South Lanarkshire Council between 2007 and 2017. Within Parliament, Simpson is the Conservative Party Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Housing, Communities and Social Security and sits on the Local Government and Communities Committee. 2007 South Lanarkshire Council Election
Elections to South Lanarkshire Council took place on 3 May 2007 on the same day as the 31 other Scottish local government elections. The election was the first to use the 20 new wards created as a result of the Local Governance (Scotland) Act 2004, each ward electing three or four councillors using the single transferable vote system form of proportional representation. The new wards replaced the 67 single-member wards which used the plurality (first past the post) system of election. Labour retained their position as the largest party on the council but were no longer in overall control after the introduction of proportional voting saw them lose 22 seats. 2017 Scottish Local Elections
The 2017 Scottish local elections were held on Thursday 4 May, in all 32 local authorities. The SNP retained its position as the largest party in terms of votes and councillors, despite suffering minor losses. The Conservatives made gains and displaced Labour as the second largest party, while the Liberal Democrats suffered a net loss of councillors despite increasing their share of the vote. Minor parties and independents polled well; and independent councillors retained majority control over the three island councils. Thorntonhall ( sco, Thorntounhauch, gd, Dail Bhaile Dhealgaiche) is an affluent village in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, lying around to the south of Glasgow, and around west of East Kilbride. The village lies just east of the boundary of East Renfrewshire, close to Waterfoot and Jackton. In 2011, a street in Thorntonhall (Bowmore Crescent) was identified as having one of the most expensive average house prices within the Scottish property market, with an average house price of £908,000. Stewartfield, East Kilbride
Stewartfield is an area of the Scottish new town East Kilbride, in South Lanarkshire. There are no schools in Stewartfield, although there are two primary schools nearby on its south-eastern edge. These are shared with residents from nearby West Mains. St Kenneth's Primary School was the first school in the town to feature a purpose-built parents' car park. The school boasts a 3G artificial surface on its football pitch - to which the school's PTA have yet to grant local children access. Stewartfield is part of the catchment area for St Andrew's and St Bride's High School and Calderglen High School, formerly Hunter High School before it merged with Claremont High School. Mossneuk
Mossneuk is a predominantly residential area in the South-West of the Scottish new town East Kilbride, in South Lanarkshire. The area has very few facilities within in it, as it is served by shops and conveniences by the nearby areas of Greenhills, Hairmyres and Gardenhall. The area, however, has a community hall, a church and a primary school, care home and a park. Mossneuk is the site of one of South Lanarkshire's 124 primary schools, the eponymous primary school Mossneuk Primary School As of 2011/2012, the school roll is approximately 450.
