East Kalimantan 2018 Gubernatorial Election
The 2018 East Kalimantan gubernatorial election took place on 27 June 2018 as part of the 2018 Indonesian local elections, simultaneous local elections. It was held to elect the governor of East Kalimantan along with their deputy, whilst members of the provincial council (''Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Daerah'') will be re-elected in 2019 Indonesian general election, 2019. With incumbent Awang Faroek Ishak having served two terms, former regent of East Kutai Regency, East Kutai won a four-way race with 31 percent of the votes. Other candidates are mayors of Samarinda Syaharie Ja'ang and Bontang Andi Sofyan Hasdam, in addition to the provincial secretary Rusmadi Wongso. A regency ( id, kabupaten), sometimes incorrectly referred to as a district, is an administrative division of Indonesia, directly under a province and on the same level with city (''kota''). Paser Regency is a Regency (''kabupaten'') within East Kalimantan province in Indonesia, it is the southernmost regency of the East Kalimantan province. Mahakam Ulu Regency is a regency (''kabupaten'') in the province of East Kalimantan, Indonesia. It covers an area of 15,315 km2. Berau Regency ( id, Kabupaten Berau) is one of the seven regencies in East Kalimantan province in Indonesia. The capital is the town of Tanjung Redeb. Balikpapan is a seaport city in East Kalimantan, Indonesia. Located on the east coast of the island of Borneo, the city is the financial center of Kalimantan. The People's Conscience Party ( id, Partai Hati Nurani Rakyat), better known by its abbreviation, Hanura, is a political party in Indonesia. It was established following a meeting in Jakarta on 13–14 December 2006 and first headed by former Indonesian National Armed Forces commander Wiranto.
