East India Comedy was a group of 7 Indian stand-up comedians that performed comedy shows, organized comedy workshops and corporate events, and scripts movies and television shows. The group claimed to be India's busiest comedy company with a record 130 shows across the country in the calendar year 2013. East India Comedy maintained a YouTube channel that showcased their comedy stints and satires on topics like politics, religion and the Indian film industry. Much of their reputation was initiated through their online presence. The group used to host India’s version of the Golden Raspberry Awards (Razzies), the Ghanta Awards. Sorabh Pant
Sorabh Pant is an Indian stand-up comedian and writer. He has performed over 250 shows. He was rated amongst India's top 10 stand-up comedians by ''The Times of India''. In a poll by IBN Live in March 2012, he was listed No. 1 of the 30 most interesting Twitter users in India. Career Pant started as a writer for television. In March 2008, he met Vir Das and they did a show together on CNBC-TV18 called ''News on The Loose''. Pant's career in comedy took off when he started as the opening act for Vir Das's show, ''Walking on Broken Das'', later that year. Atul Naraindas Khatri is an Indian stand-up comedian and YouTube personality. He was rated among the top Indian comedians by CNN-IBN and was the only Indian to perform in the Hong Kong International Comedy Festival (Sep 2014). The Ghanta Awards (sometimes abbreviated as The Ghanta) is an award presented in recognition of the worst film in Bollywood. Founded by Prashant Rajkhowa and Karan Anshuman in 2010, the annual Ghanta Awards ceremony in Mumbai takes place about the same time as other major Bollywood awards. All India Bakchod
All India Bakchod (abbreviated as AIB) was a Mumbai-based comedy company which created the eponymous podcast, YouTube channel and production company. The name is a parody of All India Radio. It began in 2012 as a humour/pop-culture podcast co-started by comedians Tanmay Bhat and Gursimran Khamba. Their friends and contemporary comedians, Rohan Joshi and Ashish Shakya were frequent guests and the four co-founded the YouTube channel in 2013 and began making sketches. They subsequently formed a digital agency and produced sketches, live comedy and TV shows. In October 2018, the company halted operation and fired its entire staff, after Bhat and Khamba were implicated in two separate sexual harassment allegations. No formal charges were made but the company dissolved in May 2019.
