East Coweta High School
East Coweta High School (ECHS) is a public high school located in Coweta County, Georgia, United States. It serves about 3,300 students in grades 9 to 12 in the Coweta County School System. It is the second oldest high school in the county. History East Coweta High School was founded on April 17, 1946 when the Coweta County School Board ordered that the Haralson, Raymond, Starr, and Senoia school operate East Coweta High School at Starr School for the ensuing year. This resulted from a series of consolidations begun years earlier. In the fall of 1988, the high school students of Moreland, East Newnan, White Oak, Major, the traditional East Coweta area, and all parts in between merged to culminate the consolidation efforts begun so long ago. Keith Brooking
Keith Howard Brooking (born October 30, 1975) is a former American football linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the first round of the 1998 NFL Draft and also played for the Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos. He played college football at Georgia Tech. Brooking was a five-time Pro Bowl selection with the Falcons. Early years Brooking graduated from East Coweta High School in Sharpsburg, Georgia in 1994. Timothy Layne Van Egmond (born May 31, 1969), is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who played with the Boston Red Sox (1994–1995) and Milwaukee Brewers (1996). He batted and threw right-handed. A native of Shreveport, Louisiana, Van Egmond attended Jacksonville State University. He was selected in the 17th round of the 1991 amateur draft by the Boston Red Sox. His first professional season, 1992, was arguably his best as a professional pitcher. Christopher David Hanson (born October 25, 1976) is a former American football punter who played ten seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Marshall University, and was signed by the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent in 1999. Madarious Jaquil Gibbs (born May 7, 1993) is an American basketball player. He completed his college career at Texas Southern University (TSU). Gibbs, a point guard from Newnan, Georgia, played four seasons for TSU, leading the team to back-to-back Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) titles in 2014 and 2015.
