The East Broad Street Historic District in Columbus, Ohio is a historic district that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The district includes the section of East Broad Street from Ohio Avenue on the west to Monypenny Street on the east. It includes lavish residences, some converted to offices. Broad Street (Columbus, Ohio)
Broad Street is a major thoroughfare in Central Ohio, predominantly in Franklin County and Columbus. It stretches east from West Jefferson at Little Darby Creek to Pataskala. The street is considered one of Columbus's two main roads, along with High Street. Broad Street was first laid out around 1797, when Franklinton was settled. In 1812, when Columbus was founded, a new section of the street was built in the new city. The street first connected to the rest of the settled country in 1831, when the Ohio and Erie Canal reached Columbus. In 1833, the National Road was extended to Columbus, utilizing all of West Broad Street. In the mid-to-late 19th century, East Broad Street became a fashionable place for wealthy homeowners, and large mansions were built along the tree-lined street. Broad-Brunson Place Condominiums
The Broad-Brunson Place Condominiums is a set of condominium units in the Woodland Park neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio. The condominiums were listed on the Columbus Register of Historic Properties in 1984 Attributes The seventeen-unit structure was designed with French and Spanish influences. Its design was attributed to Robert Gilmore Hanford, though the attribution is unconfirmed. Hanford was responsible for the design of several similar buildings in the neighboring city of Bexley, including the Ohio Governor's Mansion. The complex forms a rough U-shape, with most units facing west toward Brunson Avenue; some units open to the north and south sides. The east side of the block is primarily lawn and porch space for the units. The building has 2.5 stories, with stuccoed brick exterior walls and a colorful roof of red, green, and gray slate. East High School (Columbus, Ohio)
East High School is a public high school located on the near east side of Columbus, Ohio at 1500 E. Broad Street. It is a part of Columbus City Schools. It was originally constructed in 1922. Renovation work at East High School was completed in December 2008. The work included restoring numerous skylights throughout the building, refinishing the solid woodwork and wrought iron railings, as well as installing energy-efficient lighting fixtures. The new capacity is 1032 students. Included in the renovation was the addition of a gymnasium, which features three full-sized basketball courts and seating for 1850 spectators. The total construction cost was $28.2 million.
