Poseidon
Poseidon (; grc-gre, Ποσειδῶν) was one of the Twelve Olympians in ancient Greek religion and myth, god of the sea, storms, earthquakes and horses.Burkert 1985pp. 136–139 In pre-Olympian Bronze Age Greece, he was venerated as a chief deity at Pylos and Thebes. He also had the cult title "earth shaker". In the myths of isolated Arcadia he is related with Demeter and Persephone and he was venerated as a horse, however, it seems that he was originally a god of the waters.Seneca quaest. Nat. VI 6 :Nilsson Vol I p.450 He is often regarded as the tamer or father of horses, and with a strike of his trident, he created springs which are related to the word horse.Nilsson Vol I p.450 His Roman equivalent is Neptune. Poseidon was the protector of seafarers, and of many Hellenic cities and colonies. Homer and Hesiod suggest that Poseidon became lord of the sea when, following the overthrow of his father Cronus, the world was divided by lot among Cronus' three sons; Zeus w ...

Earthshaker (album)
''Earthshaker'' is the third studio album by American heavy metal band Y&T, released in 1981. It is their first album under the name Y&T, after shortening it from Yesterday and Today, and their first album with A&M Records. A mix of hard rock and heavy metal songs, AllMusic's Eduardo Rivadavia named this album as the best release in the band's career, the album most faithfully representing "the power and energy" of Y&T's "legendary concerts". The album was re-released in 2006. Contrary to popular belief, the Japanese heavy metal band Earthshaker did not take their name from this album, rather they took it from the song "Earthshaker" off of Y&T's first album ''Yesterday and Today''. Track listing Personnel *Dave Meniketti – electric guitar, lead vocals (all except track 4) *Joey Alves – electric and acoustic guitars, backing vocals *Phil Kennemore – bass, backing and lead vocals (track 4) *Leonard Haze – drums, backing vocals Production *Bob Shulman, David Sie ...

The Earthshaker
''The Earthshaker'' is a blues album by Koko Taylor, released in 1978 by Alligator Records. The album has since been released on CD by Alligator. Critical reception Reviewing in '' Christgau's Record Guide: Rock Albums of the Seventies'' (1981), Robert Christgau wrote: "Considering its size, Taylor's voice has never been what you'd call rich—she flubs the pitch quite a bit, and on the slow ones she's often sounded flat emotionally as well. But it retains amazing presence—by now it's deepened and roughened so much that her late work for Chess sounds girlish by comparison. Two or three of the slow ones here really drag, always a crippling flaw in Chicago blues, but the uptempo stuff is exemplary—the songs are fun as songs, and the guitar on her latest remake of 'Wang Dang Doodle' is ace." Track listing Personnel * Koko Taylor – vocals * Johnny B. Moore – guitar * Sammy Lawhorn – guitar * Pinetop Perkins Joe Willie "Pinetop" Perkins (July 7, 1913 – Ma ...
