Earthshaker (album)
''Earthshaker'' is the third studio album by American heavy metal band Y&T, released in 1981. It is their first album under the name Y&T, after shortening it from Yesterday and Today, and their first album with A&M Records. A mix of hard rock and heavy metal songs, AllMusic's Eduardo Rivadavia named this album as the best release in the band's career, the album most faithfully representing "the power and energy" of Y&T's "legendary concerts". The album was re-released in 2006. Contrary to popular belief, the Japanese heavy metal band Earthshaker did not take their name from this album, rather they took it from the song "Earthshaker" off of Y&T's first album ''Yesterday and Today''. Dave Meniketti
David Alan Meniketti (born December 12, 1953) is the singer, songwriter and lead guitarist for hard rock/ heavy metal band Y&T. He has also released three solo efforts (including "Live in Japan"), one of which is more blues-oriented. He currently tours worldwide with Y&T. With the death of guitarist Joey Alves in March 2017, Meniketti is the last surviving member of the band's classic lineup (1974–1986), which also included bassist Phil Kennemore (d. 2011) and drummer Leonard Haze (d. 2016). Y&T (originally known as Yesterday & Today) is an American hard rock/ heavy metal band formed in 1972Archived aGhostarchiveand thWayback Machine in Oakland, California, with the line up that would record the first album cementing in 1974. The band released two studio albums on London Records as Yesterday & Today in the 1970s, before shortening their name to Y&T and releasing several albums on A&M Records beginning in 1981, plus albums on Geffen Records, Avex Records, and others. Bass Guitar
The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. It is a plucked string instrument similar in appearance and construction to an electric or an acoustic guitar, but with a longer neck and scale length, and typically four to six strings or courses. A backing vocalist is a singer who provides vocal harmony with the lead vocalist or other backing vocalists. Electric Guitar
An electric guitar is a guitar that requires external amplification in order to be heard at typical performance volumes, unlike a standard acoustic guitar (however combinations of the two - a semi-acoustic guitar and an electric acoustic guitar exist). Earthshaker (band)
is a Japanese heavy metal band that was formed in 1978 in Osaka. One of the first Japanese metal bands, they steered toward a poppier sound on later albums and dropped from worldwide view, preferring to record and tour in their home country. After a successful run, they broke up in 1994, but returned five years later and remain active. The quintet from the nineties is still together. An early incarnation of the band included Minoru Niihara (of Loudness fame) as singer (originally bass and vocals).
