Colors Bangla, previously known as ETV Bangla, is an Indian general entertainment pay television channel broadcasting in Bengali language. It was launched in 2000 as ETV Bangla, owned by the Hyderabad-based ETV Network. It was later sold to TV18 and was rebranded under the Colors moniker. History The channel aired the Filmfare Awards East 2017. The channel was re-branded under the Viacom18 Colors franchise on 1 April 2015. Colors Bangla started their HD channel from 2 May 2016 along with the HD versions of Colors Kannada and Colors Marathi. On 30 August 2021 6:30 PM IST, on account of Janmashtami it rebranded and introduced new graphics after almost 5 and a half years, where it is not only pink colour, but also with violet swoosh, and the wordmark 'Bangla' is now of white colour instead of red colour and the red colour is bordering the 'Bangla' wordmark. Viacom18 Media Private Limited is an Indian media and entertainment joint venture between TV18 and Paramount Global based in Mumbai. It was founded in 2007 and owns various channels, as well as content production studios in India. History In January 2010, Viacom18 went international with the launch of Colors in United States. The channel is called Aapka Colors. In July 2010, it got into 50/50 distribution joint venture with Sun Network to form Sun 18. In December 2011, Viacom18 launched Nickelodeon Sonic, targeting young adults. Colors Cineplex (formerly Rishtey Cineplex from 2016 to 2019 in SD and the HD version formerly known as Cineplex HD from 2017–19) is an Indian pay television channel owned by Viacom18. It was launched on 29 March 2016. History In June 2016 Viacom18 decided to launch the channel in the UK as Rishtey Cineplex. It launched on 29 September 2016 on Sky, replacing UMP Movies. The channel was launched on Freeview on 17 January 2017. However, it was later removed on 1 July 2017. In 2017, Viacom18 launched HD movie channel Cineplex HD and it was rebranded as Colors Cineplex HD in 2019. In October 2017, the channel was launched in Virgin Media. Krishna Janmashtami , also known simply as Krishnashtami, Janmashtami, or Gokulashtami, is an annual Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu. Filmfare Awards Bangla is the Bengali segment of the annual Filmfare Awards, presented by The Times Group to honour the artistic and cinematic excellence in Bengali. The first installment of the awards were held for Bengali, Assamese and Odia films in a ceremony on 29 March 2007. The award ceremony was discontinued for Two Times respectively 2013, 2015 and 2016, then again continued from 2017 and now only given to Bengali Film Industry. History On 8 March 2014, in a press conference held at Kolkata, the Worldwide Media group announced that Filmfare Award is debuting in Eastern India to honour the best cinematic artistic talent of the region.
