Dulles Town Center, Virginia
Dulles Town Center is a census-designated place (CDP) in Loudoun County, Virginia, United States. It is located about north of Washington Dulles International Airport. The CDP is the location of the Dulles Town Center shopping mall, for which it is named. The United States Postal Service considers Dulles Town Center to be a subsection of Dulles, which is itself a subsection of Sterling; none of these locations is an incorporated municipality. The population as of the 2010 United States Census was 4,601. History In December 1987, Loudoun County officials approved the jurisdiction's first regional shopping mall. The mall was originally planned to be named the "Windmill Regional Shopping Center" but was later renamed to "Dulles Town Center" in 1988. The original expected opening was set for 1993. Lerner Enterprises is a company owned by Ted Lerner and his family that develops and invests in real estate in the Washington metropolitan area. The company has developed more than 20 million square feet of real estate. History The company was founded in 1952 by lawyer Ted Lerner, after he borrowed $250 from his wife. Broad Run (Loudoun County, Virginia)
Broad Run is a tributary of the Potomac River in Loudoun County, Virginia. The creek, located between Goose Creek and Sugarland Run, principally drains portions of eastern Loudoun County, as well as a small portion of western Fairfax County. The headwaters of the creek are located about northeast of Aldie. The creek flows eastward near Arcola and continues generally northeast to its mouth at the Potomac near the southern end of Seldon's Island to the north of Sterling and about southeast of Leesburg. The watershed of the creek is 67.5 mi2 (175 km2) in Loudoun and 23.8 mi2 (62 km2) in Fairfax. The majority of the run forms the border between the unincorporated areas of Ashburn and Sterling. Leesburg is a town in the state of Virginia, and the county seat of Loudoun County. Settlement in the area began around 1740, which is named for the Lee family, early leaders of the town and ancestors of Robert E. Lee. Along with nearby Countryside and Lowes Island, it is considered one of the three main components of the Potomac Falls community ( ZIP code 20165) within Sterling, Virginia. Cascades is a planned community of with approximately 6,500 homes. The corresponding homeowners association was incorporated on November 8, 1990. Ashburn is a census-designated place (CDP) in Loudoun County, Virginia, United States. At the 2010 United States Census, its population was 43,511, up from 3,393 twenty years earlier. It is northwest of Washington, D.C., and part of the Washington metropolitan area. Ashburn is a major hub for Internet traffic, due to its many data centers.
