Cascades is a census-designated place (CDP) in Loudoun County, Virginia, United States. The population as of the 2010 United States Census was 11,912. Along with nearby Countryside and Lowes Island, it is considered one of the three main components of the Potomac Falls community ( ZIP code 20165) within Sterling, Virginia. Cascades is a planned community of with approximately 6,500 homes. The corresponding homeowners association was incorporated on November 8, 1990. As in nearby Sterling Park, prior to the establishment of the Cascades community in 1990 the area was made up of a few very large farms. The homeowners association maintains five community centers, five swimming pools, 15 tennis courts, and other amenities including extensive paved walking trails. The Lowes Island at Cascades community (commonly referred to as Lowes Island) is an advertised portion of the legal subdivision of Cascades, but is not a legal subdivision itself. Dulles Town Center is a census-designated place (CDP) in Loudoun County, Virginia, United States. It is located about north of Washington Dulles International Airport. The CDP is the location of the Dulles Town Center shopping mall, for which it is named. The United States Postal Service considers Dulles Town Center to be a subsection of Dulles, which is itself a subsection of Sterling; none of these locations is an incorporated municipality. The population as of the 2010 United States Census was 4,601. History In December 1987, Loudoun County officials approved the jurisdiction's first regional shopping mall. Sugarland Run, Virginia
Sugarland Run is a planned community and census-designated place in Loudoun County, Virginia, United States. The population at the 2010 census was 11,799. In 2020, it was estimated to be 12,956. Sugarland Run is part of the Washington metropolitan area and is by road northwest of Washington, D.C. Geography Sugarland Run is in the eastern corner of Loudoun County, north of Virginia State Route 7 and south of the Potomac River. The community is named for Sugarland Run, a stream which flows toward the Potomac along the east side of the community. Great Falls Park
Great Falls Park is a small National Park Service (NPS) site in Virginia, United States. Situated on along the banks of the Potomac River in northern Fairfax County, the park is a disconnected but integral part of the George Washington Memorial Parkway. The Great Falls of the Potomac River are near the northern boundary of the park, as are the remains of the Patowmack Canal, the first canal in the United States that used locks to raise and lower boats. History Native American petroglyphs have been discovered within the park on cliffs overlooking Difficult Run. Virginia State Route 7 (VA 7) is a major primary state highway and busy commuter route in northern Virginia, United States. It travels southeast from downtown Winchester to SR 400 (Washington Street) in downtown Alexandria. Potomac Falls High School
Potomac Falls High School is a public secondary school in Sterling, Virginia unincorporated area in Loudoun County. The school is part of the Loudoun County Public Schools system. History Potomac Falls High School opened in 1997. It was the first high school built in the county in 21 years, following Park View's opening in 1976. The high school design for Potomac Falls has been used for every new high school built in Loudoun County since then. Stone Bridge opened in 2000 with Potomac Falls' design, but with a larger auditorium and some additional classrooms.
