Drivin N Cryin
Drivin' n' Cryin' is an American Southern rock band from Atlanta, Georgia, United States. History The band was formed in 1985 in Atlanta when Kevin Kinney hooked up with Frank French at the latter's recording studio, Dragon Path Music, and began working on original songs at night and working at times at French's shop "Far East Futon Company" in Atlanta. Kinney also hooked up with Tim Nielsen, who was in a popular band called the Nightporters with drummer Paul Lenz. ''Wrapped in Sky'' is an album by the American rock band Drivin N Cryin, released in 1995. The album marked a return to the band's earlier, folkier sound. The band supported the album by touring with Moonpools & Caterpillars. Production The album was produced by John Porter. Porter was not the band's first choice, but several "bigger name" producers had declined the band's invitation. Peter Buck played dulcimer and mandolin on the album's opening tracks. It was recorded without guitar player Buren Fowler, who had quit the band in 1994. Critical reception '' No Depression'' wrote that "the songs run toward character sketches, conveyed at ballad tempo with careful restraint." Soul Asylum
Soul Asylum is an American alternative rock band formed in 1981 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Their 1993 hit "Runaway Train (Soul Asylum song), Runaway Train" won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Song. The band was originally called Loud Fast Rules, with a lineup consisting of Dave Pirner, Dan Murphy (musician), Dan Murphy, Karl Mueller (rock musician), Karl Mueller, and Pat Morley. They changed their name to Soul Asylum in 1983. Morley was replaced by Grant Young (musician), Grant Young in 1984. The band recorded three albums with Twin/Tone Records and two with A&M Records, with little commercial success. Geoff Workman
Geoff Workman (21 September 1947 – 21 January 2010) was an English record producer and engineer, best known for producing and engineering albums for The Cars, Queen, Journey, Foreigner, Drivin N Cryin, Toto, Mötley Crüe, Private Eye and Twisted Sister. In the late 1970s, he engineered several albums with Roy Thomas Baker, eventually leaving in the 1980s to become a full-time producer. He produced the band Secretz at Cherokee studios with Darrahl Foley. Geoff called Denver, Colorado home during the 1990s where he produced and engineered for bands such as the Hippie Werewolves, Dogs of Pleasure, Killian Dare and Strange Parade as well as Logan out of Houston TX.
