Doo Kyung-min
Doo Kyung-min (born 22 September 1991) is a South Korean professional basketball player. He plays for Daegu KOGAS Pegasus in the Korean Basketball League and for the South Korean national team. Early years Doo enjoyed playing basketball as a child. His father is a former basketball coach, who was initially opposed to him becoming a professional player. Doo did not attend a high school with a notable basketball program like many of his KBL peers did. Instead he attended the nearest high school, which had a basketball team but was not a highly rated prospect. College career Doo was admitted to Kyung Hee University, where his contemporaries included Kim Jong-kyu and Kim Min-goo. He spent his freshman year mostly as a substitute player. 2013 Korean Basketball League Draft
The 2013 Korean Basketball League rookie draft (Korean: 2013 KBL 국내신인선수 드래프트) was held on September 30, 2013, at the Jamsil Students' Gymnasium in Seoul, South Korea. Out of the 39 players who participated in the draft, 22 were selected. Changwon LG Sakers won the lottery for the first overall pick. COVID-19 Pandemic In South Korea
The COVID-19 pandemic in South Korea is part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 () caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (). The first case in South Korea was announced on 20 January 2020. The number of confirmed cases increased on 19 February by 20, and on 20 February by 58 or 70, giving a total of 346 confirmed cases on 21 February 2020, according to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA), with the sudden jump mostly attributed to "Patient 31" who participated in a gathering at a Shincheonji Church of Jesus the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony church in Daegu. Heo Ung (born August 5, 1993) is a South Korean professional basketball player. He plays for Jeonju KCC Egis in the Korean Basketball League and the South Korean national team. Early life Heo only began focusing on basketball in middle school, relatively late compared to many of his KBL peers, as his father, retired basketball player and coach Hur Jae, had been staunchly opposed to him and his younger brother becoming professional athletes. He spent a year and a half of his elementary school years in the United States when his father was sent for coaching training and worked as a coach at Pepperdine University. Conscription In South Korea
Conscription in South Korea has existed since 1957 and requires male citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 to perform compulsory military service. Women are not required to perform military service, but they may voluntarily join the military. Establishment The basis for military conscription in South Korea is the Constitution of the Republic of Korea, which was promulgated on 17 July 1948. The constitution states in Article 39, "All citizens shall have the duty of national defense under the conditions as prescribed by Act." In addition, the conscription is defined and acted by the "Military Service Act" (병역법).
