Adam Smith (director)
Adam Smith is an English film, television drama, documentary, and music video director. His filmmaking journey began as a teenager, making visuals for raves and nightclubs in a creative collective, which he co founded, called Vegetable Vision. Smith started his television directing career in 2007, with four episodes of the television series ''Skins (UK TV series), Skins''. He then went on to directing episodes of the BBC One drama ''Little Dorrit (TV series), Little Dorrit'', based on Charles Dickens' novel.[1] In 2010, he directed the first episode of the revival fifth series of ''Doctor Who'', 'The Eleventh Hour (Doctor Who), The Eleventh Hour' and episodes four and five titled 'The Time of Angels' and 'Flesh and Stone'. For his work directing ''Doctor Who'', he was voted best director by readers of ''Doctor Who Magazine''. "Star Guitar" is a song by English electronic music duo the Chemical Brothers, released as the second single from their fourth album, ''Come with Us'' (2002). It reached number eight on the UK Singles Chart, number two on the American dance chart and number one in the UK Dance Chart. The song was greeted with praise from critics. Structure "Star Guitar" is 127 beats per minute and in the key of F major. It contains a four measure-long acoustic guitar sample from the beginning of the David Bowie song, "Starman", hence the name, "Star Guitar". "Swoon" is a song by The Chemical Brothers, released as the first official single from their 2010 album ''Further''. The song was played on a few occasions by The Chemical Brothers prior to its release in their DJ sets. On 6 May 2010, an official video of the radio edit was uploaded on Parlophone's official YouTube page for the single. The radio edit of Swoon was released as a digital download on iTunes on 9 May 2010. The song entered at number 100 in the UK Singles Chart, the lowest chart position the band has had to date, until it re-entered the charts shortly after at number 88 and again at number 85. ''Singles 93–03'' is a compilation album by English electronic music duo The Chemical Brothers, released on 22 September 2003. It is a collection of singles from the duo between 1993 and 2003 (though not all the singles are included), plus two new songs "Get Yourself High" and " The Golden Path". Early copies of the CD came with a bonus CD. It was certified gold by the BPI on 24 October 2003. "Otter Rock", which is featured on the bonus disc as a previously unreleased song, also appears on ''The Big Noise'' (a charity CD released in ''The Guardian'' for Oxfam). Singles " The Golden Path" was released on 15 September 2003 as the first single from the album. It reached number 17 in the UK charts. "Get Yourself High" was the second single from the album, released on 8 December 2003. "Get Yourself High" is a 2003 single by The Chemical Brothers. It features Canadian rapper k-os and appeared as a bonus track on their collection ''Singles 93–03''. A music video featuring footage from a martial arts film accompanied the song. The song was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording, but lost to "Toxic" by Britney Spears. ''Further'' is the seventh studio album by The Chemical Brothers, released on 14 June 2010. The album title and release date were announced on the band's official website on 30 March 2010. All 8 tracks from the album are accompanied by corresponding films, made specifically to match them, by Adam Smith and Marcus Lyall. The main character of the films is portrayed by actress Romola Garai. The woman on the album cover is aquatic athlete Jenny Godding, who also body doubled for the underwater portions of the music videos. Background The album, along with its visuals, was released as a bonus DVD on deluxe edition, as an iTunes LP, and as an iTunes Pass feature in US only. As a part of the iTunes Pass program, those who purchased it received an unreleased track, named "Pourquoi", on 29 June 2010.
