Domitille Collardey
Domitille Collardey (born 1981) is a French cartoonist and comic book designer. She is best known for her founding the Chicou-Chicou comics collective with Aude Picault. She lives in Paris and Brooklyn, NY. She is a former member of the cartoonist studio, Pizza Island, where she worked alongside cartoonists including Kate Beaton, Lisa Hanawalt, and Meredith Gran. Education Domitille graduated from les Arts Decoratifs de Paris in 2004. Comics Domitille founded and participated in the project Chicou-Chicou with Aude Picault, Lisa Mandel, Boulet and Erwann Surcouf for three years. A 485-page compilation of the artists' work was published by French publisher Delcourt in November 2008, in the Lewis Trondheim imprint Shampooing. Lewis Trondheim, Ruppert et Mulot and Émile Bravo have made guest appearances in the project Chicou-Chicou. Pizza Island
Pizza Island was a shared cartooning studio space in Greenpoint, Brooklyn established in 2010. It was established by Sarah Glidden, Julia Wertz, and Domitille Collardey, and included Kate Beaton, Meredith Gran, Lisa Hanawalt, Karen Sneider, and Deana Sobel Lederman. Unintentionally, it consisted of all-female cartoonists. History Sarah Glidden and Julia Wertz had the idea to create a shared cartoon space in October 2009, just as Domitille Collardey was planning to move from her native France to New York. The location of Pizza Island was discovered on Craigslist. According to Glidden, the name comes from a nonexistent restaurant they were mistakenly seeking one night. Kate Beaton
Kathryn Moira Beaton (born 8 September 1983) is a Canadian comics artist best known as the creator of the comic strip ''Hark! A Vagrant'', which ran from 2007 to 2018. Her other major works include the children's books '' The Princess and the Pony'' and ''King Baby'', published in 2015 and 2016 respectively. The former was made into an Apple TV+ series called '' Pinecone & Pony'' released in 2022 on which Beaton worked as an executive producer. Lisa Hanawalt (born June 19, 1983) is an American illustrator, writer, and cartoonist. She has published comic series, as well as three books of illustrations. She worked as the production designer and a producer of the Netflix animated series ''BoJack Horseman'' (2014–2020), and co-hosts the podcast ''Baby Geniuses'' (2012–present) with comedian Emily Heller. Émile Bravo (born 18 September 1964) is a French comics artist. Biography Émile Bravo was born in Paris in 1964 from Spanish parents (a Catalan father and a Valencian mother). Having grown up with the famous Franco-Belgian comics like ''Astérix'' and ''The Adventures of Tintin'', he wanted to become a comics creator. After his studies, he started working for the magazine ''Marie-France'' and as an illustrator, before publishing his first comic book in 1990. It was written by Jean Regnaud, with whom he would collaborate on multiple occasions over the next decades. Babatunde Omoroga Adebimpe (born February 26, 1975) is an American musician, singer-songwriter, actor, director, and visual artist best known as the lead singer of the Brooklyn-based band TV on the Radio. Early life Adebimpe was born into a Nigerian immigrant family in the United States. Babatunde is a Yoruba name that means "father has returned".
