Dolores San Miguel (1 November 1950 – 4 March 2022) was a music promoter and author from Melbourne, Australia. Career Dolores San Miguel began her career in Melbourne's music scene in 1975, and became best known for opening the music venue Crystal Ballroom (then known as Seaview Ballroom) at St Kilda’s Seaview Hotel in 1978. She expanded her work as booking agent across several other venues, and is credited with giving the first shows to bands Boys Next Door, Models, Hunters & Collectors, La Femme, and Scrap Museum. Howard Arkley
Howard Arkley (5 May 1951 – 22 July 1999) was an Australian artist, born in Melbourne, known for his airbrushed paintings of houses, architecture and suburbia. His parents were Australian, and had British ancestry. Early career John Brack was Howard Arkley's first true inspiration and felt encouraged to continue with his art. After seeing an exhibition of works by Sidney Nolan, Arkley became very interested in art. Nolan's use of household materials inspired him and abstract artists such as Klee and Kandinsky also appealed to him. After discovering art, Arkley studied at Prahran College of Advanced Education from 1969 to 1972 where he discovered the airbrush, which he subsequently used in his paintings as he desired smooth surfaces. He had his first exhibition, aged 24, at Tolarno Galleries, Melbourne, in 1975. Most of his early works were abstract, often depicting patterns or lines created with the airbrush. Alella () is a village in the ''comarca'' of Maresme in Catalonia, Spain. It is situated on the coast on the southwest side of the granite Catalan Coastal Range. Jennifer Watson (born 1951) is an Australian artist known for her paintings that combine text and images. Biography Jenny Watson was born in Melbourne in 1951 and she lives and works in Samford, Queensland. Her formative years as an artist were in the 1970s in Melbourne and London. In 1972, she completed a Diploma of Painting at the National Gallery of Victoria Art School, Melbourne. In 1973, she completed a Diploma of Education at the State College of Victoria. She had her first solo show in 1973. Early influences on her practice include conceptual art, feminism and the punk scene in London and Melbourne. Uniquely, her work takes these influences into the domain of figurative painting. She has developed her own visual language that frequently combines text with images. The Cure are an English Rock music, rock band formed in 1978 in Crawley, Crawley, West Sussex.
