Dolau Railway Station
Dolau railway station is an unstaffed railway station with one platform serving the small village of Dolau in Powys, mid Wales. It is located on the Heart of Wales Line. Passenger services are operated by Transport for Wales. It is a request stop for southbound trains only - those heading towards Shrewsbury have to stop here so that the train crew can activate the controls for the adjacent half barrier level crossing. History The station is tended to by the Dolau Station Action Group, who has decorated the platform with plants, flowers, a wooden waiting shelter and clock. The shelter houses a guestbook as well as the awards the station has received. Llanbister Road Railway Station
Llanbister Road railway station is a countryside stop about from the village of Llanbister, Powys, Wales. The station is south west of Shrewsbury on the Heart of Wales Line. The unstaffed station is located at street level adjacent to the bridge beneath a minor road. All trains serving the station are operated by Transport for Wales. Facilities As with most others on the route, it has been fitted with a digital CIS display and customer help point in addition to the standard timetable poster board and waiting shelter. Part of the platform has been raised to allow travellers to board and alight from trains without the need for portable stairs, but no level access is available from the main entrance (the only entry and exit route is via a flight of 18 steps). Its former station building still survives opposite the remaining active platform (as can be seen in the photo), though it is now a private residence. Pen-y-Bont railway station is a railway station serving the village of Penybont, in mid Wales. It is situated on the Heart of Wales Line south west of . The station is located closer to the villages of Crossgates and Fron than it is to Penybont itself, and is now the closest station to the town of Rhayader, about 9 miles to the west. Facilities The station is an unstaffed request stop with one active platform (the disused southbound one is still visible). It is provided with the same amenities as other Heart of Wales line stations, including CIS display, customer help point, timetable poster board and payphone. Request Stop
In public transport, a request stop, flag stop, or whistle stop is a stop or station at which buses or trains, respectively, stop only on request; that is, only if there are passengers or freight to be picked up or dropped off. In this way, stops with low passenger counts can be incorporated into a route without introducing unnecessary delay.
