Do Re Mi (Jahn Teigen Song)
Norway was represented by Jahn Teigen, with the song "Do Re Mi", at the 1983 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 23 April in Munich. "Do Re Mi" was chosen as the Norwegian entry at the Melodi Grand Prix on 25 February. This was the third and final Eurovision appearance by Teigen. Although uncredited on this occasion, one of his backing singers was Anita Skorgan, making her fourth appearance in seven years. Jahn Teigen
Jahn Teigen (27 September 1949 – 24 February 2020) was a Norwegian singer, musician and comedian. He represented Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest three times, in 1978, 1982 and 1983, His given name was Jan; he added the silent H later. From October 2006 until his death in February 2020, he resided in Sweden. Biography Popol Vuh Jahn Teigen was born in Tønsberg. He started his career in the late 1960s when he released a few singles and one album with Enemies. However, his commercial breakthrough did not come until the early 1970s as the lead singer of the 6-member rock band Popol Vuh. They released three successful albums, the first self-titled in 1973. Their most popular album was released in 1976, called ''Stolen From Time'', but this time under their new name Popol Ace, to avoid confusion with the German rock band with the same name that also was popular in the 1970s. Dizzie Tunes was a Norwegian musical show group from the city of Skien. Dizzie Tunes was one of the most successful in Norwegian show business. Biography The group was founded as the dance band ''Rex Band'' in 1959, was named ''Dizzie Tunes'' in 1962, and disbanded in 2002. The regular group members were Yngvar Numme, Svein-Helge Høgberg, Øyvind Klingberg, Tor Erik Gunstrøm and Einar Idland. Their record debut came in 1963 with the single "Mette Mette Mette". Their first album was called ''Dizzie Tunes'' (1967). Their first revue was ''Å, så heldig vi er'', staged at Chat Noir in 1966 and starring Wenche Myhre. Norway has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 60 times since making its debut in and has only been absent twice since then. Susanne Fuhr (born 13 June 1953) is a Norwegian jazz vocalist, cabaret artist and actor, known from her own S.F. Band in the 1970s. Biography Fuhr was born in Oslo. The first edition of her Band comprised guitarist Bent Patey, pianist Rune Klakegg, bassist Åge Røthe and drummer Bjørn Jenssen, but the breakthrough was with the next edition which consisted of keyboarder Brynjulf Blix, saxophonist Arne Frang, bassist and guitarist Sveinung Hovensjø and drummer Svein Christiansen at the 1979 Moldejazz. She also had a S.F. Quartet with pianist Dag Arnesen, bassist Bjørn Kjellemyr and drummer Svein Christiansen performing at the 1982 Nattjazz in Bergen.
