Diving At The 2021 Southeast Asian Games
Diving events at the 2021 SEA Games took place at Mỹ Đình Aquatics Center, in Hanoi, Vietnam from 8 to 11 May 2022. It is one of four aquatic sports at the Games, along with finswimming, swimming, and canoeing. Summary Malaysia dominated the diving events again and won all the gold medals available again since the last SEA Games. Malaysia won eight gold medals, three silver medals and a bronze medal for a total of 12 medals. Pandelela Rinong
Dato Pandelela Rinong Pamg, (born 2 March 1993) is a Malaysian diver. She has won two Olympic medals and seven World Championships medals. Pandelela represented Malaysia at the 2008 Summer Olympics where she finished 27th in 10m platform. She won the gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. She was chosen to be the flagbearer of Malaysia at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She went on to win the bronze medal in the 10m platform, becoming the first Malaysian female athlete to win an Olympic medal, as well as the first in any sport other than badminton. Fong Kay Yian ( zh, 冯琪茵; born 5 November 1996) is a Singaporean diver. Early life and education Kay Yian studied at the Singapore Sports School and graduated from Republic Polytechnic with a Diploma in Sports and Leisure Management. She pursued a Bachelor's degree in Psychological Science at James Cook University Singapore (JCU) and graduated with Honours in July 2022. Wendy Ng Yan Yee (born 11 July 1993) is a Malaysian diver. Career Early beginning Ng begin diving at the age of 13 at Bandar Tun Razak Swimming Pool. She was a rhythmic gymnast but her talent was spotted by the national coach, Yang Zhuliang due to her "physical build was good for diving". 2012 Summer Olympics She competed 3 m springboard at the 2012 Summer Olympics. 2016 Summer Olympics Ng finished 11th in 3 metre springboard at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, Russia and qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics. Nur Dhabitah Sabri
Nur Dhabitah binti Sabri (born 12 July 1999) is a Malaysian diver. She is the youngest Malaysian diver to champion two senior international competitions. Early and personal life Dhabitah was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Sabri Hashim and Fazidah Jaafar. She is the youngest among four siblings. Initially, she started her aquatic exposure through swimming clubs. After several competition, her father decided to switch her into diving due to her small body physique. She learned swimming and diving together with her older brother, Muhammad Danial Sabri. Jonathan Chan Fan Keng ( zh, 曾繁铿; born 10 May 1997) is a Singaporean former diver. He competed in the 2020 Summer Olympics after his qualification through a victory in the 2019 Asian Diving Cup in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 8 September 2019. He is the first Singaporean diver to have qualified for the Olympic Games. Due to his Olympic qualification, Chan was nominated for the Straits Times Athlete of the Year award in 2020. Ooi Tze Liang (, born 19 November 1993 in Penang) is a Malaysian diver. Ooi has represented Malaysia in various diving events such as 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, 2013 Southeast Asian Games and 2015 Southeast Asian Games. Early and personal life Tze Liang (who also goes by David) was born in Penang and started diving at the age of eight. He is currently studying at University of Malaya. Singapore At The 2021 SEA Games
Singapore participated at the 2021 Southeast Asian Games held in Hanoi, Vietnam from 12 to 23 May 2022. The Games were postponed in 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. At the end of the Games, Singapore top the Medal Tally for Bowling, Fencing and Swimming. There were also 5 Games Records, 16 National Records and 41 Personal Best. 62 of the 164 medals were won by debutants. During the closing ceremony, swimmer Quah Jing Wen was named as one of the MVP of the Games with 6 Gold and 1 Bronze medals. Competitors Singapore sent a total of 424 athletes competing in 33 of 40 sports with 243 of them making their Games debut. Malaysia participated in the 2021 Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam from 12 to 23 May 2022.
