Dive Dive
Dive Dive are a British rock band, composed of Jamie Stuart (guitar and vocals), Ben Lloyd (guitar and vocals), Nigel Powell (drums and vocals) and Tarrant Anderson (bass guitar). Ben Lloyd and Tarrant Anderson also play as full-time members of Frank Turner's band, The Sleeping Souls. Dive Dive formed in 2001 in Oxford, England after the breakup of the members' previous bands, Unbelievable Truth (Nigel Powell) and Dustball (Jamie Stuart and Tarrant Anderson), in 2000. The band were championed from early on by John Peel, for whom they recorded a number of sessions at the BBC Maida Vale Studios and also performed live on his BBC Radio 1 show. Nigel Powell
Nigel Powell (born 1 October 1971) is an English multi-instrumental musician from Abingdon. Powell was born in Bromley, London, and educated at Abingdon School. While at school he was in a band called Illiterate Hands, which also featured future Radiohead lead guitarist Jonny Greenwood and Andy Yorke, brother of Thom Yorke. He is best known as the former drummer for Frank Turner's live and studio backing band; The Sleeping Souls. Nigel is also a member of the Oxford based alternative rock band Dive Dive. He was formerly a member of Unbelievable Truth. He is endorsed by Pro-Mark Sticks and Sabian Cymbals. Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls headlined at Wembley Arena in April 2012, and played at the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London. ''Love Ire & Song'' is the second studio album by English singer-songwriter Frank Turner, released on 31 March 2008 by Xtra Mile Recordings. On 26 January 2009, the album was re-released as a deluxe version, including the '' First Three Years'' compilation album. ''Love Ire & Song'' was re-released on 21 July 2009 through Epitaph Records, where Frank Turner had recently signed to. In October 2008, Turner released the track "Long Live the Queen" as a benefit single for the Breast Cancer Campaign, in honour of a close friend who succumbed to the disease. Production ''Love Ire & Song'' was entirely written by Turner, and recorded on a farm near Turner's home-town of Winchester. It was co-produced by Turner and guitarist Ben Lloyd, who also contributed electric guitar and harmonica performances. ''Sleep Is for the Week'' is the debut album by UK based songwriter Frank Turner, released on 15 January 2007 by Xtra Mile Recordings. In a 2008 interview, Turner claimed that the album was "a snapshot of pretty much exactly one year of my life". The general reception by the music press was largely positive. Xtra Mile Recordings
Xtra Mile Recordings are a British independent record label based in London, England. The label was founded in 2003 by Charlie Caplowe and they release an eclectic mix of genres with a focus on rock and folk. History The label first signed the artists Million Dead and Reuben in 2003 and subsequently released Frank Turner's solo albums after the split of Million Dead in 2005. While signed with Xtra Mile, Frank Turner has gone on to perform at the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics and sell out Wembley Arena. On 8 August 2011 Xtra Mile were badly affected by the 2011 England riots, when the Sony Music warehouse that stored their records was set on fire. ''Campfire Punkrock'' is the first EP by UK based songwriter Frank Turner. The EP was released via Xtra Mile Recordings on May 15, 2006. The vinyl release includes a live version of "The Ballad of Me and My Friends" and is pressed on a sulfur-yellow 10" vinyl. Philip Selway
Philip James Selway (born 23 May 1967) is an English musician and the drummer of the English rock band Radiohead. Along with the other members of Radiohead, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019. Selway released his debut solo album, ''Familial'', in 2010, followed by '' Weatherhouse'' in 2014. He also composed the soundtrack for the 2017 film ''Let Me Go''. Laurence John "Loz" Colbert (born 27 June 1970) is an English musician, best known as the drummer in Ride and formerly of The Animalhouse, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Supergrass and Gaz Coombes. Ride is an English rock band formed in Oxford in 1988. The band consists of vocalists and guitarists Andy Bell and Mark Gardener, drummer Laurence "Loz" Colbert and bassist Steve Queralt. They are recognised as one of the key pioneers of shoegaze, an alternative rock subgenre that emerged to prominence in the United Kingdom during the early 1990s.
