Diogo Reis
Diogo Reis is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt athlete. A competitor since childhood, Reis is a European Open, Brazilian Nationals, Pan and World Champion in the juvenile and lower belt divisions, completing an IBJJF Grand Slam in 2019. Reiss is a 2022 ADCC World Submission Fighting Champion and a black belt 2022 World Jiu-Jitsu Championship medallist. Grappling career Reis was born on 20 March 2002 in Manaus, Brazil. Reis started training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu in 2012 after his brother took up the sport. He joined Melqui Galvao as a yellow belt in 2015 earning all his belts from him through the coloured belt divisions then the adult ones; getting promoted to black belt on 13 December 2020, 7 months only after his brown belt grading. 2022 Reis competed in the first ADCC South American Trials on 5 February 2022, winning the 66 kg division and earning an invite to the 2022 ADCC World Championship. The Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championship or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Pan American Championship (commonly known as Pan Ams or Pans), is the largest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament held in North America. The event is held annually by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation. History Representing one of the first steps toward internationalisation of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the Pan-American Championship has been held annually since 1995. While the first event garnered only 250 athletes, the event has grown every year with the 2022 edition in Florida reporting over 4,600 jiu-jitsu athletes registered to compete. The World IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship (commonly known as the Worlds or Mundials) is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament held once every year by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation. It is widely considered to be the most important and prestigious jiu-jitsu tournament of the year. The first edition took place in February 1996 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. ADCC Submission Fighting World Championship
The ADCC Submission Fighting World Championship, is an international submission grappling competition, organised by the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC). The inaugural tournament was held in Abu Dhabi, UAE in 1998. It has been held every two years since, except in 2021 due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.
