World Jiu-Jitsu Championship
The World IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship (commonly known as the Worlds or Mundials) is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament held once every year by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation. It is widely considered to be the most important and prestigious jiu-jitsu tournament of the year. The first edition took place in February 1996 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Since 2007 the tournament has been held in California, USA. The last edition of the championships took place at the California State University, Long Beach in June 2022. History The first World Championship was held in 1996 at the ''Tijuca Tênis Clube'' in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Gracie Barra
Gracie Barra is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu association with over 800 schools on six continents. The organization was founded by Carlos Gracie, Jr. History Carlos Gracie Jr., who was born in 1956, grew up heavily influenced by his family, especially his father Carlos Gracie Sr. and his brother Rolls Gracie. Carlos was working as Rolls' assistant instructor when Rolls died in a hang-gliding accident in 1982; Carlos was asked to assume the head instructor role. The first Gracie Barra school was first founded in the upper-class Barra da Tijuca () neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro. Margot Ciccarelli (; born 17 November 1993) is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitor and coach. Representing Italy, she is a multiple-time World, World Pro, World No-Gi and European Open Champion in the lower belt divisions. Ciccarelli is a three-time World Championship medalist, a three-time Pan American Championship medalist and a European Championship black belt medalist. Ffion Davies (born 18 January 1995) is a Welsh submission grappler, mixed martial artist and a world-champion Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) competitor. She has won the World Championship twice. A member of Wales Judo National team when she was a junior, Davies holds a black belt in both BJJ and judo.
