Dimitris Metaxas
Dimitris Metaxas is a distinguished professor and the chair of the Computer Science Department at Rutgers University, where he directs the Center for Computational Biomedicine Imaging and Modeling (CBIM). Education Metaxas was educated at the University of Toronto where he was awarded a PhD degree in 1992 under the supervision of Demetri Terzopoulos as part of the Dynamic Graphics Project. He was awarded an M.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1988. He did his undergraduate studies in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens. Career Metaxas became an assistant professor in the Computer and Information Science Department at the University of Pennsylvania and director of the VAST Lab. Computer vision is an interdisciplinary scientific field that deals with how computers can gain high-level understanding from digital images or videos. From the perspective of engineering, it seeks to understand and automate tasks that the human visual system can do.
