Alfredo Diez Nieto
Alfredo Diez Nieto (25 October 1918 – 23 October 2021) was a Cuban composer, conductor, and professor. He taught composition at Instituto Musical Kohly, the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory, the National Art School, and the Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana. He founded and conducted the Orquesta Popular de Conciertos. Diez Nieto composed orchestral works including three symphonies and chamber music for various instruments, using and transforming elements from Cuban folk music. Life and career Alfredo Diez Nieto was born in Havana (La Habana), Cuba, on 25 October 1918. Albrecht Christoph Wilhelm von Diez (17 January 1839, Bayreuth – 25 February 1907, Munich) was a German painter and illustrator of the Munich School. Life He attended a trade school in Munich, followed by the Polytechnic School (precursor of the Technische Universität München, University of Technology) from 1853 to 1855 and, from 1855, the Academy of Fine Arts Munich, where he was briefly a student of Karl von Piloty. He didn't stay at the Academy very long, preferring to teach himself draftsmanship and painting. He first became known through the illustrations he drew for the ''Fliegende Blätter'', a weekly satirical magazine. In 1871, he illustrated Friedrich Schiller, Schiller's ''History of the Thirty-Years War''. He later turned to animal, landscape and genre painting. Victoria Díez Bustos de Molina (11 November 1903 - 12 August 1936) was a Spanish Roman Catholic and a member from the Teresian Association. Díez worked as a teacher who became well-loved among her students for her deep faith and her passion as well as her commitment to the education of children. Díez was beatified on 10 October 1993. Life Victoria Díez Bustos de Molina was born on 11 November 1903 as the sole child to José Díez Moreno and Victoria Bustos de Molina. Díez became a teacher instead of enlisting in the missions so as to appease her parents. Sophie Diez or Dietz (''née'' Hartmann) (1 September 1820 – 3 May 1887) was a German soprano who sang leading roles with the Munich Hofoper (now known as the Bavarian State Opera) in a career spanning 40 years. Samuel Friedrich Diez ( 19 December 1803 – 11 March 1873) was a German portraitist and court official. He served as court painter to Georg II, Duke of Saxe-Meiningen.
