Die Kommissarin
''Die Kommissarin'' (German for "the inspectoress") is a German police TV series which aired on Das Erste. Its 66 episodes ran from 1994 till 2006. The series, which takes place in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, is notable as being the first, and as one of the most successful, German police detective series with a female lead character (others include Bella Block and Rosa Roth). The main character is Inspector Lea Sommer, played by Hannelore Elsner. Sommer is divorced with custody of her teenage son, Daniel. She is looking forward to a new relationship with her new boyfriend, Jonathan. Although Lea and Jonathan telephone each other frequently, he is never seen or heard on screen (see unseen character). Sommer was originally paired with Nick Siegel (Til Schweiger), but in a 1996 episode, Siegel was shot to death by an escaping criminal. Hannelore Elsner
Hannelore Elsner (; born Hannelore Elstner; 26 July 1942 – 21 April 2019) was a German actress with a long career in television and film. She first performed on stage in Munich, and later starred in popular films and television series such as ''Die Schwarzwaldklinik'' (''The Black Forest Clinic''), and as the lead character, Inspector Lea Sommer, in the series ''Die Kommissarin''. She was recognized internationally for her lead role in the 2000 film ''Die Unberührbare'' ('' No Place to Go''), shown at the Cannes Film Festival. Career She was born Hannelore Elstner in Burghausen on 26 July 1942. Her five-year-old brother was killed in an air raid at the end of the Second World War. Her father died from tuberculosis when she was eight. After finishing drama school in Munich, she was engaged at the Munich theatres Münchner Kammerspiele and . ''Der Kommissar'' (English ''The Police Inspector'') is a German television series about a group of detectives of the Munich homicide squad (''Mordkommission''). All 97 episodes (55 minutes each), which were shot in black-and-white and first broadcast between 1969 and 1976, were written by Herbert Reinecker and starred Erik Ode as Kommissar Herbert Keller. Keller's assistants were Walter Grabert (Günther Schramm), Robert Heines (Reinhard Glemnitz), and Harry Klein (Fritz Wepper) who, in 1974, was replaced by his younger brother (also in real life) Erwin Klein (Elmar Wepper).
