Dhaka International Film Festival
Dhaka International Film Festival ( bn, ঢাকা আন্তর্জাতিক চলচ্চিত্র উৎসব) is a biennial film festival held in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Established in 1992, the festival was initially organized on annual basis, but became a biennial event since 1995. DIFF is one of the most prestigious film events in Bangladesh, dedicated to introduce the mainstream global cinema to the local film makers as well as to promote healthy cine culture within Bangladesh. The festival was founded by Ahmed Muztaba Zamal of the Rainbow Film Society, which has, as of 2022, organized 20 editions of the event bringing international recognition to it. Dhaka ( or ; bn, ঢাকা, Ḍhākā, ), formerly known as Dacca, is the capital and largest city of Bangladesh, as well as the world's largest Bengali-speaking city. ''Paper'' ( tr, Kağıt) is a 2010 Turkish comedy-drama film directed by Sinan Çetin, which tells the story of a young director trying to make his first film. Arif Onur Saylak (born 12 May 1977) is a Turkish actor, filmmaker and director. He was married for six years to Tuba Büyüküstün, with whom he has twin daughters. Personal life On 28 July 2011, Saylak married the Turkish actress Tuba Büyüküstün in Paris, France. In January 2012, his wife gave birth to twin girls, Maya and Toprak. Zer is a movie released in 2017 and directed by Kazim Öz. The film is about the experiences of a young Turkish musical student who gets to know his Kurdish grandmother as she comes to New York for treatment. Plot Jan is a student in musicology in New York and has a strained relationship with his father. His grandmother comes to New York to receive cancer treatment and Jan often visits her in the hospital. His grandmother sings him the song Zer and becomes captivated by its melody. After his grandmother died and Jan and his father attended the funeral in Turkey, Jan decides to stay and solve the mystery around the song. It leads him to a journey to the land of his ancestors and of what they experienced during the Dersim Massacre.
