Deviant Records
Deviant Records was a London-based electronic music record label founded by publisher and music producer Rob Deacon in 1994. They published bands such as Pentatonik, Node (Flood, Ed Buller, Mel Wesson, Dave Bessell), Schematix, The Orb, Humate, Phat Gecko (Luke Corradine), Spooky, and Witchman. Deviant grew to be one a major independent dance label and represented Paul Van Dyk, now one of the world's most successful DJs, and DJ Sammy. Disillusioned by the corporate consolidation within the music industry, as well as the increase in music downloads, Deacon sold Deviant Records to Phoenix Music International Ltd. in 2006. Trance Music
Trance is a genre of electronic dance music that emerged from the British new-age music scene and the early 1990s German techno and hardcore scenes. Trance music is characterized by a tempo generally lying between 135–150 beats per minute (BPM), repeating melodic phrases and a musical form that distinctly builds tension and elements throughout a track often culminating in 1 to 2 "peaks" or "drops". Although trance is a genre of its own, it liberally incorporates influences from other musical styles such as techno, house, pop, chill-out, classical music, tech house, ambient and film music. Witchman
John Roome (born 26 August 1968, a.k.a. Witchman) is a hip hop/breakbeat artist who has worked with The Orb and The Jungle Brothers. Having completed the score on five movies (''Messengers'', ''Dead End Road'', '' Song of Songs'', ''Want'' and '' Final Curtain'') he has provided material for John Leguizamo's '' Undefeated'' and ''Into the Sun'', as well as John Carpenter's ''Masters of Horror''. Canoeing is an activity which involves paddling a canoe with a single-bladed paddle. Common meanings of the term are limited to when the canoeing is the central purpose of the activity. DJ Sammy
Samuel Bouriah (born 19 October 1969), better known by his stage name DJ Sammy, is a Spanish DJ and record producer. He has released five albums and has had five top-10 hits, including a cover of Bryan Adams' "Heaven", which reached number one in the UK in 2002. His career started with ex-wife Marie-José van der Kolk in the making of his first singles, under the stage name of DJ Sammy featuring Carisma. Career DJ Sammy started his music career in 1984 in pubs (Siros pub – DJ Sammy worked there one summer season along with a well known PR in the area, Jose Crespo) and dance clubs of Mallorca, playing gigs at clubs such as Alexandra's (rebuilt around 1998/99 and renamed to Boomerang's), Banana's and Zorba's. Paul Van Dyk
Matthias Paul (; born 16 December 1971), known professionally as Paul van Dyk () is a German DJ, record producer and musician. One of the first true renowned DJs, van Dyk was the first artist to receive a Grammy Award nomination in the newly added category of Best Dance/Electronic album for his 2003 release '' Reflections''. He was named the World's number one DJ in both 2005 and 2006, something few DJs have ever achieved. He was the first ever DJ to be named number one by ''Mixmag'' in 2005. By 2008, he had sold over 3 million albums worldwide. Spooky are a British electronic music production and DJ duo consisting of Duncan Forbes and Charlie May. History They debuted with '' Gargantuan'' in 1993 after signing to Guerilla Records. In 1995 and 1996, they released three EPs (''Clank'', ''Stereo'' and ''Shunt'') on their own Generic Records label, followed quickly in mid-1996 by their second album, ''Found Sound''. Two singles from this album were released: "Fingerbobs" and "Bamboo". Humate was until 1996 a German trance group, then just the German record producer Gerret Frerichs, who has released singles with record labels such as MFS and Superstition. His work has been featured on many compilation albums including the ''Global Underground'' series, Sasha and John Digweed's ''Northern Exposure'' series and the ''Cafe Del Mar'' series.
