Deux Vultures
Deux Vultures is a musical group in Kenya performing hip hop and pop music. The group consists of two members: Colonel Mustapha (real name Daudi Mustapha) and Nasty Thomas (Thomas Konzanga). They grew up in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Like many other Kenyan artists, they started their career at jam sessions of the Florida 2000 nightclub in Nairobi. Originally the group was known as "Desert Vultures" and had as many as 20 members, but soon the group decreased to two members and was renamed Deux Vultures. Ogopa Deejays are a Kenyan music production team and record label formed in the late 1990s who gained regional fame and popularity due to standards of their production work. Background The people behind Ogopa DJs are brothers Francis and Lucas Bikedo, and manager Banda. They rarely show their faces in public and do not agree to have their photos taken or published by Kenyan media. The team started out producing hit songs for artists such as Bebe Cool, Chameleone and Redsan. They are widely acclaimed to have helped boost the Kenyan urban music scene from obscurity. They are also credited with creating the Boomba (sometimes referred to as Kapuka) style of Kenyan music which is modern hip hop and dancehall influenced by African drums and rhythms. Longombas
Longombas are a duo from Kenya performing a mixture of Hip hop and Soukous. Christian Longomba died on March 3, 2021. Career The group consists of two brothers, Christian and Lovy Longomba. They're from a musical family; father Lovy Longomba was a member of Super Mazembe, while their grandfather Vicky Longomba was a member of TPOK Jazz. France-based Congolese musician Awilo Longomba is their uncle. The group entered Kenyan music scene in 2002 with their song "Dondosa", which became a national hit. Follow-up singles were "Piga Makofi", "Shika More" and "Vuta Pumz". Their debut album ''Chukua'' was released in 2005 by Ogopa DJs. Benga Music
Benga is a musical genre, genre of Kenyan popular music. It evolved between the late 1940s and late 1960s, in Kenya's capital city of Nairobi. In the 1940s, the African Broadcasting Service in Nairobi aired a steady stream of soukous, South African kwela, Soukous, Congolese Fingerpicking, finger-style guitar and various kinds of Cuban dance music that heavily influenced emergence of benga. There were also popular folk songs of Kenya's Luo (family of ethnic groups), Luo peoples that formed the base on benga creation. Luo Benga The Luo of Kenya have long played an eight-string lyre called ''nyatiti'', and guitarists from the area sought to imitate the instrument's syncopation, syncopated melody, melodies. Dola Kabarry
Kevin Omondi Migot (born c. 1982) better known for his stage name Dola Kabarry is a benga musician from Kenya. He leads the band Orchestra Super Haki Haki. His songs are mainly in Dholuo language. His father Barrack Migot led the band Bondo Super Stars. When his father died in 1998, Kabarry took over the band, but left the band soon due to internal rivalry and formed Orchestra Super Haki Haki in 2000.
