Deutsche Oper (Berlin U-Bahn)
Deutsche Oper is a List of Berlin U-Bahn stations, station of the Berlin U-Bahn on line U2 (Berlin U-Bahn), U2, located in the Charlottenburg district. It is named after the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Overview The station opened on 14 May 1906 under the name ''Bismarckstraße'' in the course of the first western extension of the 1902 ''Stammstrecke'' route, which originally ran from Warschauer Brücke (now Warschauer Straße (Berlin U-Bahn), Warschauer Straße) to Knie (now Ernst-Reuter-Platz (Berlin U-Bahn), Ernst-Reuter-Platz). At the same time, the Wilhelmplatz (now Richard-Wagner-Platz (Berlin U-Bahn), Richard-Wagner-Platz) station was put in operation as the western terminus. Charlottenburg
Charlottenburg () is a Boroughs and localities of Berlin, locality of Berlin within the borough of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf. Established as a German town law, town in 1705 and named after Sophia Charlotte of Hanover, Queen consort of Kingdom of Prussia, Prussia, it is best known for Charlottenburg Palace, the largest surviving royal palace in Berlin, and the adjacent museums. Charlottenburg was an independent city to the west of Berlin until 1920 when it was incorporated into "Greater Berlin Act, Groß-Berlin" (Greater Berlin) and transformed into a borough. In the course of Berlin's 2001 administrative reform it was merged with the former borough of Wilmersdorf becoming a part of a new borough called Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf. Theodor-Heuss-Platz (Berlin U-Bahn)
Theodor-Heuss-Platz is a station on line U2 of the Berlin U-Bahn, located in the Westend district. Overview When the station first opened on 29 March 1908, it was named ''Reichskanzlerplatz'' after the eponymous square laid out between 1904 and 1908, referring to the office of Chancellor of Germany and its inaugural holder, Otto von Bismarck. It had been built according to the plans of Alfred Grenander in the course of the second western extension of the 1902 ''Stammstrecke'' route, which originally ran from Warschauer Brücke (now Warschauer Straße) to Knie (now Ernst-Reuter-Platz). At the same time, the Sophie-Charlotte-Platz and Kaiserdamm stations were opened. Two weeks before the opening, Emperor William II had the occasion of a first trip on the new line on 14 March 1908. U2 (Berlin U-Bahn) Stations
U2 are an Irish rock band from Dublin, formed in 1976. The group consists of Bono (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), the Edge (lead guitar, keyboards, and backing vocals), Adam Clayton (bass guitar), and Larry Mullen Jr. (drums and percussion). Initially rooted in post-punk, U2's musical style has evolved throughout their career, yet has maintained an anthemic quality built on Bono's expressive vocals and the Edge's chiming, effects-based guitar sounds. Tom Tykwer
Tom Tykwer (; born 23 May 1965) is a German film director, producer, screenwriter, and composer. He is best known internationally for directing the thriller films ''Run Lola Run'' (1998), ''Heaven (2002 film), Heaven'' (2002), ''Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (film), Perfume: The Story of a Murderer'' (2006), and ''The International (2009 film), The International'' (2009). "Mein Teil" (German for "My part" or "My share", slang for "My penis") is a song by German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein. It was released as the lead single from their fourth studio album, '' Reise, Reise'' (2004), on 26 July 2004. "Mein Teil" attracted controversy in Germany; the media dubbed it "Das Kannibalenlied" ("The Cannibal-Song") due to its lyrics referring to the Armin Meiwes cannibalism case, which helped to boost it to second place in the German music charts after its release in early August 2004. It was also a number-one hit in Spain. Remixes of the song were done by Arthur Baker and Pet Shop Boys. Rammstein
Rammstein (, "ramming stone") is a German Neue Deutsche Härte band formed in Berlin in 1994. The band's lineup—consisting of lead vocalist Till Lindemann, lead guitarist Richard Kruspe, rhythm guitarist Paul Landers, bassist Oliver Riedel, drummer Christoph Schneider, and keyboardist Christian "Flake" Lorenz—has remained unchanged throughout their history, along with their approach to songwriting, which consists of Lindemann writing and singing the lyrics over instrumental pieces the rest of the band has completed beforehand. Prior to their formation, some members were associated with the punk rock acts Feeling B and First Arsch. Love Parade
The Love Parade (german: Loveparade) was a popular electronic dance music festival and technoparade that originated in 1989 in West Berlin, Germany. It was held annually in Berlin from 1989 to 2003 and in 2006, then from 2007 to 2010 in the Ruhr region. Events scheduled for 2004 and 2005 in Berlin and for 2009 in Bochum were canceled. On 24 July 2010, a crowd crush at the Love Parade in Duisburg caused the deaths of 21 people, with at least 500 others injured. As a consequence, the organizer of the festival announced that no further Love Parades would be held and that the festival was permanently canceled. U7 (Berlin U-Bahn)
The U7 is a rail line on the Berlin U-Bahn. It runs completely underground for a length of through 40 stations and connects Spandau, via Neukölln, to Gropiusstadt and Rudow. The line was originally the south-eastern branch of the Nord-Süd-Bahn ( U6) that ran between the branching point at Belle-Alliance-Straße (Mehringdamm) and Grenzallee; however, in the 1960s, this stretch was separated from the rest of the line and extended at each end to form a new line. As of 2007, the U7 is Berlin's longest underground line, both in terms of absolute length and total travel time, and one of the longest (entire) subterranean lines in Europe.
