''Detective Investigation Files'' (刑事偵緝檔案) is a TV series in Hong Kong about detectives, produced by TVB. The series had four installments, spanning from 1995 to 1999. It's believed that the entire franchise is a blatant ripoff of the many Japanese detective fiction. Michael Tao
Michael Tao Dai Yu (, born 26 August 1963) is a Hong Kong television actor. Career Tao entered the acting industry in the 1980s, affiliating with TVB. It was during this period that Tao earned the name "Housewife Killer" due to his overwhelming popularity amongst housewives (who arguably constitute a majority of television viewing audiences in Hong Kong), solidifying his position as a first tier television actor in TVB. Tao later moved over to rival ATV in 1997 after problems over his contract with TVB. His ATV series Flaming Brothers defeated the TVB rival show at the time, a landmark for ATV. Apart from filming ATV series, Tao has also filmed in China and Singapore. He returned to TVB in 2004 and has starred in a number of television series since. Once again, problems with his contract resulted in Tao leaving TVB in 2009 and worked mostly in mainland China and occasionally in Hong Kong. ''Detective Investigation Files III'' is a 1997 TVB production. It was a direct sequel to Detective Investigation Files II and the third installment in the Detective Investigation Files Series. The series ran for 40 episodes. Only Michael Tao, Joey Leung and Kenix Kwok returned to reprise their roles from the previous two installments. Louisa So, Amy Kwok, Joseph Lee and Sammi Cheng did not participate in this series; instead they were replaced by Margaret Chung, Law Koon Lan, Liu Kai-chi, Monica Chan and Winnie Yeung who portrayed new characters. Detective Investigation Files is a 1995 Hong Kong crime investigation drama series produced by Poon Ka Tak for TVB and is the first installment in the Detective Investigation Files Series. The main characters were played by Michael Tao, Joey Leung, Kenix Kwok and Louisa So. This installment featured five different cases. In 2022, the drama was selected as one of ten classic TVB dramas being honoured for Youku and TVB's new programme. Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) is a television broadcasting company based in Hong Kong SAR. The Company operates five free-to-air terrestrial television channels in Hong Kong, with TVB Jade as its main Cantonese language service, and TVB Pearl as its main English service. Lee San-San (, born 9 October 1977, was the winner of the 1996 Miss Hong Kong Pageant and her territory's representative at Miss Universe 1997.
