Gabriel Desjardins (born 14 February 1949 in Montreal, Quebec) was a Progressive Conservative member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was a businessman, professor and trader by career. He represented the Quebec riding of Témiscamingue where he was first elected in the 1984 federal election and re-elected in 1988, therefore becoming a member in the 33rd and 34th Canadian Parliaments. Martin Desjardins
Martin Desjardins, born Martin van den Bogaert (1637 – 2 May 1694) was a French sculptor and stuccoist of Dutch birth. He was born at Breda, the son of a milliner in a house that would later carry the name 'de Drye Bredasche Hoeden' ("the Three Hats from Breda"). His early training was at Antwerp with the sculptor Pieter Verbruggen (1615–1686), while his mature career was spent at Paris, where he was working from the 1650s. His early Paris work was in decorative stucco reliefs, at the Hôtel d’Aubert de Fontenay (Hôtel Salé) and the Hôtel de Beauvais (staircase). He was accepted in 1661 into the Académie de St Luc as "Martin Desjardins" (a translation of his Dutch name "of the orchard"), and gained a reputation executing private commissions for funerary monuments. Marie-Catherine de Villedieu, born Marie-Catherine Desjardins and generally referred to as Madame de Villedieu (1640 – 20 October 1683) was a French writer of plays, novels and short fiction. Largely forgotten or eclipsed by other writers of the period (such as Madame de La Fayette) in the works of literary historians of the 19th and 20th centuries, Madame de Villedieu is currently enjoying a literary revival. Marie desJardins is an American computer scientist, known for her research on artificial intelligence and computer science education. She is also active in broadening participation in computing. Biography DesJardins grew up in Columbia, Maryland. She received an A. B. in Engineering and Computer Science from Harvard University in 1985. She received a Ph.D in Computer Science from University of Berkeley in 1992. In 1991 she joined SRI International, working in the Artificial Intelligence Center. In 2001 she joined the Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County as an Assistant Professor. Marcel Desjardins (28 April 194110 February 2003) was a Canadian journalist, news editor and director. He was a political correspondent for ''Le Droit'' and '' La Presse'', before becoming an editor at Radio-Canada. He later returned to ''La Presse'' as the news director, then as the vice-president and assistant editor. He also covered ice hockey and was recognized with the Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award by the Professional Hockey Writers' Association. Career Desjardins was born on 28 April 1941, in Grenville, Quebec. He began his career in journalism at age 17, writing for ''Le Carillon'' in Hawkesbury, Ontario. Marcel Desjardins (born May 19, 1966) is the former general manager for the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He has also served as the General Manager for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for two seasons. He is a four time Grey Cup champion, having won his first three with the Alouettes and his fourth with the Redblacks in 2016. Desjardins is a graduate of the Sports Administration program at Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario. Louis-Georges Desjardins (May 12, 1849 – June 8, 1928) was a Canadian journalist and politician. Born in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, Canada East, the son of François Roy dit Desjardins and Clarisse Miville dit Deschênes, Desjardins was educated at the Collège de Lévis and at the Military College. A journalist, he was the editor-in-chief of newspaper ''Le Canadien'' from 1875 to 1880. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Quebec for the electoral district of Montmorency in the 1881 election. A Conservative, he was re-elected in 1886 and was defeated in 1890. Julien François Desjardins (27 July 1799, Centre de Flacq – 18 April 1840, Paris) was a French zoologist, the son of Julien Jouan Desjardins (1766–1853) and Henriette Émilie Marcotte. He married Julie Renée Maréchal, his first cousin by his mother. He studied in Paris from 1822 to 1824 under Georges Cuvier, Cuvier, and was influenced by Louis Jacques Thénard (1777–1857), Joseph Louis Gay-Lussac (1778–1850), Pierre André Latreille (1762–1833), René Desfontaines (1750–1831) and others.
