Desi Anwar
Desi Anwar (born 11 December 1962, in Bandung, West Java) is an Indonesian news presenter. She worked for RCTI in Jakarta from 1990 to 1999. She then moved to news web portal Astaga.com before returning to television and joining Indonesia's first 24-hour news channel, Metro TV, in 2001. In 2015, she joined CNN Indonesia and is currently hosting Insight with Desi Anwar. Education Desi Anwar holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in French and European Studies from the University of Sussex, England, and a Master of Arts degree in Indonesian and Malay Studies from SOAS, University of London. Anwar was a Jefferson Fellow at the East-West Center, Honolulu, USA, in 1999. She speaks Indonesian, English and French. Anwar was recognised for her contributions to society and honoured for her achievements at the 2013 graduation ceremonies of SOAS, University of London becoming an Honorary Fellow. Minangkabau People
Minangkabau people ( min, Urang Minang; Indonesian or Malay: ''Orang Minangkabau'' or ''Minangkabo''; Jawi: Ù…Ù†Ú ÙƒØ¨Ùˆ), also known as Minang, are an Austronesian ethnic group native to the Minangkabau Highlands of West Sumatra, Indonesia. The Minangkabau's West Sumatran homelands was the seat of the Pagaruyung Kingdom, believed by early historians to have been the cradle of the Malay race, and the location of the Padri War (1821 to 1837). Minangkabau are the ethnic majority in West Sumatra and Negeri Sembilan. Minangkabau are also a recognised minority in other parts of Indonesia as well as Malaysia, Singapore and the Netherlands. Jakarta Globe
The ''Jakarta Globe'' is a daily online English-language newspaper in Indonesia, launched in November 2008. The paper initially came out as a print newspaper with an average of 48 pages a day, and published Monday to Saturday. It had three sections, and contained (in section A) a range of general news, including metropolitan and national news coverage as well as international news, plus comment, (in section B) Indonesian and world business and sport plus a classified advertising section, and (in section C) an extensive features and lifestyle coverage as well as entertainment, listings and reader service and puzzle/cartoon pages. The newspaper later added a Sunday Jakarta Globe edition. The newspaper converted from broadsheet to tabloid format in May 2012, and then was published online only from 15 December 2015. ''Tempo'' is an Indonesian weekly magazine that covers news and politics. It was founded by Goenawan Mohamad and Yusril Djalinus and the first edition was published on 6 March 1971. History New Order era On June 21, 1994, under the New Order of President Suharto, Information Minister Harmoko banned the publishing of ''Tempo'' magazine, along with two other weekly news magazines, ''Editor'' and ''DeTik'', citing them as a threat to national stability.
