Der Weg Einer Freiheit
Der Weg einer Freiheit ("The Way of a Freedom") is a German extreme metal band from Würzburg, formed in 2009 by Tobias Jaschinsky as vocalist and Nikita Kamprad as guitarist and principal songwriter. After the release of two studio albums – ''Der Weg einer Freiheit'' (2009) and ''Unstille'' (2012) – Jaschinsky left the band in 2012 and Kamprad took over vocals. He now performs alongside guitarist Nico Rausch, bassist Nico Ziska and drummer Tobias Schuler. They have released three more studio albums – ''Stellar'' (2015), ''Finisterre'' (2017) and ''Noktvrn'' (2021) – through Season of Mist. Der Weg einer Freiheit have toured extensively since formation, sharing stages with bands such as Wolves in the Throne Room, The Ocean and Heaven Shall Burn. They identify with black metal, but also embrace other musical influences and lack some traditional features of the genre, such as Satanist lyrical themes. Skyforger
Skyforger is a heavy metal band from Latvia which was formed in 1995 out of the remains of doom metal band Grindmaster Dead. Musical style and lyrical themes Most of their songs are about Baltic mythology and warfare; they also play Latvian folk songs and their metal arrangements. Although Skyforger is known for their folk metal, the style on their demo ' is essentially black metal. The band also has performed and recorded a number of folk songs, including the entirety of their acoustic fourth album ', released in 2003. Folk elements can be found on all of their albums. Ragnarök Festival
Ragnarök Festival is a pagan metal festival held annually in Germany since 2004 founded by Ivo Raab. It started out as a small, one-night festival with only regional bands in the town hall of Hollfeld. In 2005 it was decided to go for a festival featuring mostly Viking and pagan metal with the booking of bands like Månegarm, Menhir, Eisregen and Equilibrium. From 2006 on the festival took place in the significantly bigger town hall of Lichtenfels, Bavaria. History The Ragnarök Metal Festival was founded by Ivo Raab in 2004. The festival's first edition featured seven bands, mostly death metal, and about 120 visitors. It did not pay off, but Raab decided to give it another try and organized it again in 2005. Heidevolk is a folk metal band from the Netherlands. The lyrical themes of their music are inspired by nature, the history of Gelderland, and Germanic mythology. Most of their lyrics are in Dutch; however, since their album '' Velua'', they also have one original English song, "Vinland", and several English covers. History Heidevolk was founded under the name Hymir in 2002. They later changed their name to Heidevolk (Dutch for 'heath-folk' or 'heather folk'), inspired by the Veluwe landscape.
