Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z
is a 2006 Japanese magical girl anime series directed by Megumu Ishiguro, based on the American animated television series ''The Powerpuff Girls''. The anime was co-produced by Cartoon Network Japan and Aniplex and was animated by Toei Animation. The series featured character designs by Miho Shimogasa, who was the character designer of '' Cutie Honey Flash'' and '' Ultra Maniac'' and one of the animation directors of '' Sailor Moon''. As production occurred in Japan, the creator of ''The Powerpuff Girls'', Craig McCracken was not involved with the project. ''Powerpuff Girls Z'' was aired in Japan on TV Tokyo between July 2006 and June 2007. In addition to Cartoon Network Japan, the anime was also broadcast on AT-X. Magical Girl
is a subgenre of Japanese fantasy media (including anime, manga, light novels, and live-action media) centered around young girls who possess magical abilities, which they typically use through an ideal alter ego into which they can transform. The genre emerged in 1962 with '' Himitsu no Akko-chan'', followed by ''Sally the Witch'' in 1966 produced by Toei Animation. A wave of similar anime produced by the studio in the 1970s led to being used as a common term for the genre. A yo-yo (also spelled yoyo) is a toy consisting of an axle connected to two disks, and a string looped around the axle, similar to a spool. It is an ancient toy with proof of existence since 500 BCE. is a manga series written by Wataru Yoshizumi. The romantic comedy series features 8th grader Ayu Tateishi, a tennis club member, and her transfer student friend, Nina Sakura, who is actually a trainee witch from the magical kingdom. It premiered in Shueisha's ''Ribon'' manga magazine in February 2001 and ran until January 2004. It was also published in five collected volumes by Shueisha.
