Federal Hockey League
The Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) is a professional ice hockey independent minor league with teams in the Midwestern, Southern, and Northeastern United States. The FPHL began operations in November 2010 as the Federal Hockey League. Don Kirnan is the league's commissioner. The league also occasionally branded itself as the Federal Professional Hockey League from 2015 to 2018 until it began using the name Federal Prospects Hockey League and completing the rebrand in 2019. Dan Farrell
Daniel Farrell (born 1937) is a former ice hockey player and coach. He played for the Michigan Tech Huskies men's ice hockey team from 1957-1960 and was the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines men's ice hockey team from 1973 to 1980. Farrell later had a career in the financial services and mineral resources industries. He is currently an officer and director of Copper Ridge Explorations, Inc. Early years Farrell was born and raised in Barrie, Ontario, Canada, graduating from Barrie's St. Joseph's High School in 1954. He played hockey for the Hamilton Tiger Cubs from 1955-1956. The Vermont Wild was a team in the Federal Hockey League in the 2011-12 season. Based in Morrisville, Vermont, the team — originally dubbed the Green Mountain Rock Crushers — played their home games at the Green Mountain Arena. Cape Cod Bluefins
The New York Bluefins were a professional hockey team in the Federal Hockey League (FHL) based in New York. They started their inaugural 2010–11 season as the Broome County Barons with home games in the Chenango Ice Rink in Chenango, New York. The team was owned by the commissioner of the FHL, Don Kirnan. As a result of a market study conducted by the league during the 2010–11 regular season, the FHL moved the franchise to Cape Cod, Massachusetts, as the Cape Cod Barons at the end of December. On March 3, 2011, the league franchise rights for Cape Cod were transferred to the Cape Cod Hockey Development Foundation. The team was then renamed the Cape Cod Bluefins. 2017–18 FHL Season
The 2017–18 Federal Hockey League season was the eighth season of the Federal Hockey League. The regular season ran from October 20, 2017, to April 7, 2018, originally scheduled for 52 games for each of the six teams. The Watertown Wolves won the playoff championship, their second championship in the league. League changes The first expansion team of the 2017–18 season was announced in August 2016 as the Carolina Thunderbirds in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. In February 2017, the FHL announced it was partnering with a developmental league called the International Developmental Hockey League (IDHL) for the 2017–18 season. Watertown Wolves
The Watertown Wolves are a minor professional hockey team in the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) based in Watertown, New York, and play home games at the Watertown Municipal Arena.
