Deer Lake (Taylor River)
Deer Lake is a lake in King County, Washington. It is an expansion of the Taylor River, located just below its true source. Located a short distance downstream is Snoqualmie Lake. The lake is reached by hiking 1 mile from Snoqualmie Lake. Deer and Bear Lake are both about the same size. The river drops over a small waterfall just before flowing into the lake. Shortly below the outlet is a long cascade that likely extends much of the way to Snoqualmie Lake. Deer Lake is a borough in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. The population was 670 at the 2020 census. The mayor of the borough is Larry Kozlowski. History The community was founded as a resort community serving coal barons and other members of the wealthy elite of nearby Pottsville. A small summer stock theatre operated during the 1920s, in which actors such as John Kenley performed. Deer Lake is an all-sports, 137-acre lake along the main branch of the Clinton River. The lake, with a maximum depth of 63 feet, lies within Independence Township in Oakland County, Michigan. Deer Lake is one of the first lakes the Clinton River flows through, and the first lake in Independence Township, after the river rises in Springfield Township. The Clinton River enters Deer Lake on the north end just after it passes under I-75. It exits on the south end where it enters into Middle Lake (23 acres), then into tiny Dollar Lake and then, as it crosses under Dixie Highway, into Greens Lake. Deer Lake connects on its northeast side to 5-acre Dark Lake. Deer Lake (Michigan)
Deer Lake is a lake in the U.S. state of Michigan, located north of the city of Ishpeming. In the 1980, the lake was identified by the US and Canadian governments as one of 43 Areas of Concern (AOC) in the Great Lakes region. High levels of mercury had been detected in the lake and efforts have been made to reduce the amount of mercury going into the lake. As a result of contamination, Deer Lake was designated as a catch and release site, as fish caught in the lake were unsafe for consumption. In late 2014, the lake was delisted as an AOC, one of the first two lakes to be delisted in the state and one of only three AOCs to achieve the status.
