Dungeons & Dragons
''Dungeons & Dragons'' (commonly abbreviated as ''D&D'' or ''DnD'') is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game (RPG) originally designed by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson. The game was first published in 1974 by TSR (company)#Tactical Studies Rules, Tactical Studies Rules, Inc. (TSR). It has been published by Wizards of the Coast (now a subsidiary of Hasbro) since 1997. The game was derived from miniature wargaming, miniature wargames, with a variation of the 1971 game Chainmail (game), ''Chainmail'' serving as the initial rule system. ''D&D'' publication is commonly recognized as the beginning of modern role-playing games and the role-playing game industry, and also deeply influenced video games, especially the role-playing video game genre. ''Dungeon'' (originally published as ''Dungeon: Adventures for TSR Role-Playing Games'') was one of the two official magazines targeting consumers of the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' role-playing game and associated products; '' Dragon'' was the other. It was first published by TSR, Inc. in 1986 as a bimonthly periodical. It went monthly in May 2003 and ceased print publication altogether in September 2007 with Issue 150. Starting in 2008, ''Dungeon'' and its more widely read sister publication, ''Dragon'', went to an online-only format published by Wizards of the Coast. Both magazines went on hiatus at the end of 2013, with ''Dungeon Issue 221'' being the last released. Richard Baker (game Designer)
Richard Baker (full name L. Richard Baker III) is an American author and game designer who has worked on many ''Dungeons & Dragons'' campaign settings. Early life, education, and military Rich Baker was born and raised in Florida, then moved with his family to New Jersey at age ten. Baker graduated from Virginia Tech in 1988 with a degree in English. He received a commission as an ensign in the U.S. Navy, and served as a deck officer for three years on board the USS ''Tortuga''; he qualified as a Surface Warfare Officer and was a lieutenant (junior grade) by the time he left the Navy. Baker married his college sweetheart, Kim Rohrbach. They have two daughters, Alex and Hannah. Career Baker began looking for a new career, and found one at TSR. The Forge of Fury is an adventure module for the 3rd edition of the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' fantasy tabletop role-playing game. Plot summary ''The Forge of Fury'' is a dungeon crawl, or site-based adventure, that describes the stronghold of Khundrukar. The great dwarven smith, Durgeddin the Black, founded the secret stronghold within a great cavern system two hundred years ago when he and his clan were driven from their home by a horde of orcs and trolls. The orcs discovered the location of Khundrukar, Durgeddin's home, a century ago when they captured one of Durgeddin's clansmen. The orcs raised a great army that stormed the stronghold and slew the dwarves there, allowing the stronghold's five levels to fall into ruins. Now goblins, orcs and other monsters use the ruins as a base. Keith Baker (game Designer)
Keith Baker is a game designer and fantasy novel author. In addition to working with Wizards of the Coast on the creation of Eberron, he has also contributed material for Goodman Games, Paizo Publishing and Green Ronin Publishing. In 2014, Baker and Jennifer Ellis co-founded the indie tabletop game company Twogether Studios. Personal life Baker lives in Portland, Oregon. He has a tattoo of the Greater Mark of Making on his right arm. He is married to product designer Jenn Ellis. Career Prior to working in the role-playing game industry, he worked in the video game industry with Magnet Interactive Studios and a Colorado company, VR1. Ed Stark
Ed Stark is a game designer who has worked primarily on role-playing games. Career Ed Stark began his career at West End Games, where he wrote for the ''TORG'' and ''Star Wars'' lines. He was the main developer behind the MasterBook system and the so-called "Fifth edition" of ''Paranoia''. David Noonan (game Designer)
David Noonan is an author of several products and articles for the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' fantasy role-playing game from Wizards of the Coast. Career Role-playing games David Noonan began his career with Wizards of the Coast in 1998. He contributed to the design of the three core books for the third edition of ''Dungeons & Dragons''. For the new ''Dungeon Master's Guide'', he developed the treasure tables, based on guidance from Monte Cook, and worked on the non-player characters that appear in the book's second chapter.
