David Harvey (footballer)
David Harvey (born 7 February 1948) is a former international association football goalkeeper. He is best known for his 19-year playing career with Leeds United making over 400 first team appearances. With Leeds he won the 1972 FA Cup Final and the 1973–74 Football League. He was a runner-up in 3 other senior cup finals with Leeds. Harvey gained 16 caps for Scotland including 3 at the 1974 FIFA World Cup. He and his compatriots were eliminated unbeaten at the end of the group stage when Harvey kept a clean sheet against Brazil and conceded only one goals in 3 games. FA Community Shield
The Football Association Community Shield (formerly the Charity Shield) is English football's annual match contested at Wembley Stadium between the champions of the previous Premier League season and the holders of the FA Cup. If the Premier League champions also won the FA Cup, then the league runners-up provide the opposition. The fixture is recognised as a competitive super cup by The Football Association and UEFA. The UEFA Cup Winners' Cup was a European football club competition contested annually by the winners of domestic cup competitions. The cup was, chronologically, the second seasonal inter-European club competition organised by UEFA. 1973 FA Cup Final
The 1973 FA Cup Final was the 92nd final of the FA Cup. It took place on 5 May 1973 at Wembley Stadium and was contested between Leeds United, the previous season's winners and one of the dominant teams in English football at the time, and Sunderland, then playing in the Second Division. In one of the biggest shocks in the history of the competition, Sunderland won 1–0 to become the first Second Division side to lift the Cup since West Bromwich Albion in 1931. Allan John Clarke (born 31 July 1946), nicknamed "Sniffer", is a former professional footballer who played in the Football League for Walsall, Fulham, Leicester City, Leeds United and Barnsley, and won 19 international caps for England. Club career Early career Clarke was born in Short Heath, Willenhall, Staffordshire. Starting his career at Walsall, he made his debut in October 1963 against Reading. He moved to Fulham in March 1966 in a transfer deadline deal. Such was his early promise that Leicester City paid £150,000 for Clarke in 1968, a then record British transfer fee. Gary Sprake
Gareth Sprake (3 April 1945 – 18 October 2016) was a Welsh professional footballer. A goalkeeper, he played for Leeds United and Birmingham City and also won 37 caps for Wales. Sprake became known during his career as a brilliant goalkeeper who was prone to occasional mistakes. He was especially known for his ability to come out to catch crossed balls floating into the box and his shot stopping. At Leeds, Sprake played 504 times, keeping more than 200 clean sheets. He spent more than a decade as the number 1 keeper at Leeds during a period when they were a dominant side in the English domestic game. 1970 FA Cup Final
The 1970 FA Cup Final was contested by Chelsea and Leeds United. The match took place on 11 April 1970 at Wembley Stadium and ended 2–2, making it the first FA Cup final to require a replay since 1912. The replay was staged at Old Trafford and played on 29 April; after four hours of fiercely contested football, Chelsea eventually won 2–1. The Football League First Division was a division of the Football League in England from 1888 until 2004. It was the top division in the English football league system from the season 1888–89 until 1991–92, a century in which the First Division's winning club became English men's football champions.
