Daugaard-Jensen Land
Daugaard-Jensen Land, ( da, Daugård-Jensen Land), is a peninsula in northwestern Greenland. It is a part of the Avannaata municipality. Daugaard-Jensen Land was named in honour of Jens Daugaard-Jensen (1871–1938), who was Inspector of Greenland between 1900 and 1912. Geography Daugaard-Jensen Land is located between Washington Land and the Petermann Glacier. Cass Fjord
Cass Fjord is a fjord in northern Greenland. To the southwest, the fjord opens into the Kane Basin of the Nares Strait. Geography The Cass Fjord opens to the SW at the northern end of Peabody Bay, north of Cape Clay. Petermann Glacier
Petermann Glacier ( da, Petermann Gletsjer) is a large glacier located in North-West Greenland to the east of Nares Strait. It connects the Greenland ice sheet to the Arctic Ocean at 81°10' north latitude, near Hans Island. The glacier and its fjord are named after German cartographer August Heinrich Petermann. Geography The tidewater glacier consists of a long and wide floating ice tongue whose thickness changes from about at its grounding line to about at its front. Rough mass balance estimates using these scales suggest that about 80% of its mass is lost as basal meltwater, yet little oceanographic data are available to connect Petermann Glacier to its fjord and adjacent Nares Strait. Even the sill depth and location is largely unknown as modern soundings of the fjord, with its mouth located between Cape Morton and Cape Tyson, are still lacking. The Pentamerus Range ( da, Pentamerus Bjerge) is a mountain range in far northwestern Greenland. Administratively this range is part of Avannaata municipality. Humboldt Glacier ( da, Humboldt Gletscher) is one of the major glaciers in northern Greenland. The glacier is named after German naturalist Alexander von Humboldt and is the widest tidewater glacier in the Northern Hemisphere. Washington Land
Washington Land is a peninsula in northwestern Greenland. It is a part of the Avannaata municipality. Washington Land was explored in the 19th century. Traditionally it was one of the hunting grounds of the Inuit, but there are archaeological remains of more permanent human habitation in ancient times. Geography Washington Land is located to the west of Daugaard-Jensen Land, between the Kane Basin in the west and northwest and Peabody Bay in the south. Crozier Island, Franklin Island and Hans Island are located off Lafayette Bay in its NW shore. Kennedy Channel
Kennedy Channel ( da, Kennedykanalen; french: Passage Kennedy; ) is an Arctic sea passage between Greenland and Canada's most northerly island, Ellesmere Island. It was named by Elisha Kane around 1854 during his second Arctic voyage in search of the lost Franklin expedition. It is not entirely clear, however, for which Kennedy he named the channel. Kane may have had his fellow explorer William Kennedy in mind, whom he had met a few years previously while both were involved in earlier searches for Franklin's expedition.
