Darthe Capellan
Darthe Capellan (born 27 April 1996) is a Canadian freestyle wrestler. He won one of the bronze medals in the men's 57 kg event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, England. At the 2019 Pan American Games held in Lima, Peru, he won one of the bronze medals in the men's 57 kg event. Career Capellan won the silver medal in the 50kg event at the 2013 Canada Summer Games held in Sherbrooke, Quebec. In 2016, Capellan won the gold medal in the 57kg event at the 2016 Pan American Wrestling Championships held in Frisco, United States. In 2017, he won the bronze medal in the 61kg event at the Jeux de la Francophonie held in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. In 2018, he competed in the men's freestyle 57 kg event at the World Wrestling Championships held in Budapest, Hungary. Capellan represented Canada at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru in the men's freestyle 57kg event. The 2022 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXII Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Birmingham 2022, was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth of Nations that took place in Birmingham, England between 28 July and 8 August 2022. The sport of wrestling has been practiced in Canada for more than a century, with the first amateur wrestling championships being held at Toronto's Argonaut Rowing Club in 1901. The sport continued to grow during the 20th century and by 1969, the Canadian Amateur Wrestling Association was formed. Today the same organization is called Wrestling Canada Lutte, and is the national governing body for Olympic style wrestling in Canada. The organization's purpose is to encourage and develop the widest participation and highest proficiency in Olympic wrestling in Canada. 2022 World Wrestling Championships
The 2022 World Wrestling Championships was the 17th edition of the World Wrestling Championships of combined events and was held between 10 and 18 September 2022 in Belgrade, Serbia. The UWW Bureau approved the candidature of Belgrade, Serbia as the host of the 2023 Senior World Championships. However, due to the restrictions on Russia for hosting World Championships in 2021–2022, Belgrade replaced the former city of Krasnoyarsk as the World Championships host for 2022. For 2023 the World Championships host will be reallocated to Russia. In addition, Russian and Belarusian athletes have been banned from 2022 World Championships. The 2022 Pan American Wrestling Championships was the 35th edition of Pan American Wrestling Championships of combined events. It was held from May 5 to 8 in Acapulco, Mexico. The event was originally scheduled for Santiago, Chile, before being moved to Acapulco. A press release issued in February 2022 stated that "The requirement decided by the Ministry of Health (Chile), Chilean Ministry of Health did not guarantee the participation of all countries." Óscar Eduardo Tigreros Urbano (born 28 July 1997) is a Colombian freestyle wrestler. He won the gold medal in the men's 57 kg event at the 2022 Bolivarian Games held in Valledupar, Colombia. He is also a South American Games gold medalist and two-time Pan American runner-up. He competed in the men's 57kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
