Danish Union Of Metalworkers
The Danish Union of Metalworkers ( da, Dansk Metal, Metal) is a trade union in Denmark. It principally represents workers in the metal industries, but also covers telecommunications, transportation and some other sectors. The union was founded in 1888, as the Danish Blacksmith and Machine Workers' Association. It became the "Danish Union of Metalworkers" in 1972. Over the years, numerous smaller unions have merged in to the Metalworkers' union. Danish Trade Union Confederation
The Danish Trade Union Confederation ( da, Fagbevægelsens Hovedorganisation, FH) is the largest national trade union centre in Denmark. On formation in 2019, it had 79 affiliated unions, with a total of 1.4 million members. History The confederation was founded on 1 January 2019, when the Danish Confederation of Trade Unions (LO) merged with the Confederation of Professionals in Denmark (FTF). LO consisted of 18 unions, with a total of one million members, most of whom worked in the private sector, while FTF consisted of 70 professional organisations, with a total of just under 500,000 members, most of whom worked in the public sector. Telecommunications Union
The Telecommunications Union ( da, Telekommunikationsforbundet, TKF) was a trade union representing workers in the communications industry in Denmark. The union was founded in 1994, when the Danish Central Organisation of Telecommunication Employees, an affiliate of the Danish Confederation of Trade Unions (LO), merged with five small unions which held membership of the Confederation of Professionals in Denmark. These five unions had previously worked together through the loose Association of Danish Teleworkers. The new union had about 15,000 members, and chose to affiliate to LO. However, the union did not prove large enough to be sustainable. LO, The Danish Confederation of Trade Unions (Danish: ''LO, Landsorganisationen i Danmark'' or simply ''LO'') was founded in 1898 and was an umbrella organisation (the largest of the three national trade union centers in Denmark) for 18 Danish trade unions. The European Metalworkers' Federation (EMF), founded in 1971, is a federation of 68 metalworkers' unions from 31 countries, representing a combined total of 6.5 million affiliates. The International Metalworkers' Federation (IMF) was a global union federation of metalworkers' trade unions, founded in Zürich, Switzerland in August 1893. the IMF had more than 200 member organisations in 100 countries, representing a combined membership of 25 million workers. History The federation was founded as the International Metallurgists' Bureau of Information. In 1904, the International Secretariat of Foundry Workers merged into the federation, which renamed itself as the "International Metalworkers' Federation". Hans Rasmussen (trade Unionist)
Hans Rasmussen (14 December 1902 – 1 January 1996) was a Danish trade union leader and politician. Born in Odense, Rasmussen became a machine operator, and joined the Danish Blacksmith and Machine Workers' Association, becoming its general secretary in 1935. In 1944, he became the union's president, the top role in the union. In this role, he became known for his negotiation skills and campaigning for full employment, gaining the nickname of the "Strong Blacksmith". Rasmussen joined the Social Democratic Party of Denmark, and was elected to Parliament in 1950. In 1961, he became the party's deputy chair, and when Prime Minister Viggo Kampmann resigned in 1962, he was considered as a possible successor. He was instead offered the posts of finance or commerce minister, but rejected them. Despite this, he was one of the leading architects of the party's new economic policy.
