Danish Internet Exchange Point
Danish Internet Exchange Point (DIX) is operated by i2http://www.i2.dk/ in Kongens Lyngby north of Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. Two points of presence were opened since 2011. Its purpose is to alleviate the exchange of data traffic between networks that constitute the Danish part of the global Internet structure. The DIX was established in May 1994 and has most of the Danish Internet service providers connected. Technology The DIX offers several options to connect to the neutral net: * Switched 1 Gbit Gigabit Ethernet. The member must use a 1G-LX singlemode optical module. * Switched 10 Gbit 10 Gigabit Ethernet. The member must use a 10G-LR singlemode optical module. * Switched 40 Gbit 40 Gigabit Ethernet. * Switched 100 Gbit 100 Gigabit Ethernet. Kongens Lyngby (, Danish for "the King's Heather Town"; short form Lyngby) is the seat and commercial centre of Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality in the northern suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. Lyngby Hovedgade is a busy shopping street and the site of a branch of Magasin du Nord as well as Lyngby Storcenter. 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GE, 10GbE, or 10 GigE) is a group of computer networking technologies for transmitting Ethernet frames at a rate of 10 gigabits per second. Internet In Denmark
In an international context Denmark is viewed as a somewhat peculiar country when it comes to internet access. The former state owned telephone company TDC owns the entire last mile infrastructure in terms of copper telephone lines and the vast majority of the coaxial cable infrastructure as well.
