Daniel McCarthy (producer)
Daniel McCarthy (c. 1926 – January 10, 2013) was a Canadian radio and television producer and the former head of children's programming at CBC Television (CBC). He worked at the CBC for thirty-three years, including a twelve-year tenure as the head of the CBC's children's programming department. McCarthy created, developed and produced such well known Canadian children's television shows as ''The Friendly Giant'', ''Mr. Dressup'', and ''Sesame Park''. McCarthy grew up in Toronto, Ontario. He graduated from the St. Michael's College at the University of Toronto after studying drama, music, and theology. In 1954, he married Mary Sue McGee, with whom he had seven children. McCarthy worked as a radio and television producer at the CBC for thirty-three years. He began his career as a radio producer. A radio producer oversees the making of a radio show. The job title covers several different job descriptions: *Content producers or executive producers oversee and orchestrate a radio show or feature. Judith Lawrence
Judith A. Lawrence CM is a Canadian puppeteer associated with the long-running CBC children's television program ''Mr. Dressup''. Her best known characters were Casey and Finnegan, although she also created other occasional characters, such as Aunt Bird and Alligator Al. Judith was born in Bairnsdale, Victoria, Australia and grew up in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. She came to Canada at age 22, earning her living as a kindergarten teacher. She taught at Cockcroft Public School in Deep River, Ontario. After a successful audition, Lawrence started work for the CBC, where she soon created her most famous puppet characters for the ''Butternut Square'' TV series and they made the transition to ''Mr. Dressup''. Ernie Coombs
Ernest "Ernie" Arthur Coombs, CM (November 26, 1927 – September 18, 2001) was a US-born Canadian children's entertainer who starred in the Canadian television series ''Mr. Dressup''. His career began as an assistant puppeteer to Fred Rogers, joining him in Canada when his employer was invited to produce a variant of his local Pittsburgh show for CBC Television, '' The Children's Corner'' on a national series, '' Misterogers''. Robert Mandt Homme, C.M. ( ; March 8, 1919 – May 2, 2000) was an American-Canadian television actor. Homme was best known as the host of '' The Friendly Giant'', a popular children's television program that aired from the 1950s through the 1980s and was broadcast on CBC Television. Background Homme was born in Stoughton, Wisconsin into a Norwegian family. His parents were high school woodworking teachers, Raymond and Roselyn Homme. A puppet is an object, often resembling a human, animal or Legendary creature, mythical figure, that is animated or manipulated by a person called a puppeteer.
