Daniel Hughes (Australian Footballer)
Daniel "Danny" Hughes (born 10 December 1986) is an Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was recruited from Sandringham (VFL) via Sandringham Dragons and the Hampton Rovers Football Club with the 25th selection in the 2006 AFL Rookie Draft, before being delisted at the end of the 2007 season. After missing most of the 2008 season with a hip injury, he was redrafted onto Melbourne's rookie list, with selection 33 in the 2009 Rookie Draft and was retained for the 2010 season. He plays as a small-medium forward and has played for both the Sandringham Zebras and Casey Scorpions in the Victorian Football League whilst on the Melbourne list. Hughes finally made his AFL debut, over four years after he was first drafted, in Round 7 of the 2010 season against the Western Bulldogs at the MCG, replacing Ricky Petterd, who was injured the previous week. Sandringham Dragons
The Sandringham Dragons are an Australian rules football club playing in the NAB League, the top statewide under-18 competition in Victoria, Australia. They are based at the Trevor Barker Oval in Sandringham, Victoria, representing the southern suburban area of Melbourne. The Dragons were one of the founding metropolitan clubs of the competition in 1992 as part of a plan by the Victorian State Football League to replace the traditional club zones with independent junior clubs. This was to help aid in player development and the process of the AFL draft. The club was originally named the ''Central Dragons'' and played out of Toorak Oval in Prahran, Victoria. In 1995 the name of the club was changed to ''Prahran Dragons'' as part of the agreement which saw the Prahran Two Blues exit the senior Victorian Football League. Western Bulldogs
The Western Bulldogs are a professional Australian rules football team that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), the sport's premier competition. Founded in 1877 as the Footscray Football Club, and based in West Footscray in the old City of Footscray west of Melbourne, the club won nine premierships in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) before gaining admission to the Victorian Football League (which became the AFL in 1990) in 1925. The West Coast Eagles are a professional Australian rules football club based in Perth, Western Australia. The club was founded in 1986 as one of two expansion teams in the Australian Football League (AFL), then known as the Victorian Football League. The club plays its home games at Perth Stadium and has its headquarters at Lathlain Park. The West Australian Football Commission wholly owns the West Coast Eagles and the Fremantle Football Club, the AFL's other Western Australian team. Ricky Petterd (born 24 July 1988) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Melbourne Football Club and Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Petterd was drafted to with the 30th overall pick in the 2006 national draft. He is a state representative footballer from Broadbeach on the Gold Coast, Queensland who made his senior debut with Melbourne in round 5 of 2007, where he had 22 disposals in the midfield and featured in the Demons best player list. He followed up his first game performance with an AFL Rising Star nomination in round 6. While with Melbourne he had a season-ending injury in round 14 of 2007 against Carlton. He collapsed during the game and could not breathe. 2010 Melbourne Football Club Season
The 2010 Melbourne Football Club season was the club's 111th year in the VFL/AFL since it began in 1897. Melbourne played 14 games at the MCG, 10 of which were home games. They also played a home match at TIO Stadium in Darwin against Port Adelaide in Round 9. It was Dean Bailey's third year as senior coach. James McDonald continued as the club's captain until retiring at the end of the year.
