George Asakura
is a Japanese manga artist. She took her pen name from one of the title characters in ''Gatchaman'' and made her debut in 1995 with ''Punky Cake Junkie'', which was published in the magazine ''Bessatsu Friend DX Juliet''. She is best known for ''A Perfect Day for Love Letters'', for which she received the 2005 Kodansha Manga Award for shōjo manga, and ''Knock Your Heart Out!''. The Japan Media Arts Festival is an annual festival held since 1997 by Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs. The festival begins with an open competition and culminates with the awarding of several prizes and an exhibition. Based on judging by a jury of artistic peers, awards are given in four categories: Art (formerly called Non-Interactive Digital Art), Entertainment (formerly called Interactive Art; including video games and websites), animation, and manga. Within each category, one Grand Prize, four Excellence Prizes, and (since 2002) one Encouragement Prize are awarded. Other outstanding works, are selected by the Jury as Jury Selections. Hajime Ootani
is a Japanese animator, director, and storyboard artist. Early life Ootani was born in Fukui Prefecture on September 22, 1979. He first became interested in animation while in high school after seeing Hayao Miyazaki's film ''Princess Mononoke''. Career Ootani joined studio Imagin as an in-between animator around 2004. He mostly worked as a sub-contracting animator, and eventual episode director, for Madhouse and Imagin. He made his directorial debut with an OVA adaptation of Ayano Yamane's manga ''A Foreign Love Affair''. Ootani's final projects with Imagin were ''Needless'' (2009) and ''Wolverine'' (2011), which the studio assisted under Madhouse for, where he was promoted to series assistant director.
