Dan Shamir
Dan Shamir ( he, דן שמיר; born 2 February 1975) is an Israeli professional basketball coach. He was most recently the head coach for the New Zealand Breakers of the Australian National Basketball League. In 2007 and 2008 he led Hapoel Jerusalem to consecutive Israeli State Cup titles, and in 2018 he led Hapoel Holon to the Israeli State Cup title. In 2018, Shamir was also named the Israeli Basketball Premier League Coach of the Year. Early life and personal life Shamir grew up in Jerusalem, where his family is from. He is Jewish, and some of his family is ultra-religious. He played for the Maccabi Jerusalem youth team as a 5' 11" point guard until he was 17 years old. Hapoel Holon Basketball Club ( he, מועדון הכדורסל הפועל חולון), known for sponsorship reasons as Hapoel Atsmon Playgrounds Holon (), is a professional basketball club based in Holon, Israel. The team plays in the Israeli Basketball Premier League (the top tier of Israeli basketball), and internationally in the Basketball Champions League.
