Damian Welch (born 28 July 1982 in Reading) is a Welsh qualified Rugby Union player who plays at lock for Cardiff Blues. He is represented Wales at Sevens in 2008-9. Club career Welch played for Westwood Wanderers until the age of 16. After beginning his rugby career at Cardiff University he then went to represent Pontypridd, Cardiff and Cardiff Blues and the Scarlets The Scarlets () are one of the four professional Welsh rugby union teams and are based in Llanelli, Wales. Lock (rugby Union)
In the game of rugby union, there are 15 players on each team, comprising eight forwards (wearing jerseys numbered 1–8) and seven backs (numbered 9–15). In addition, there may be up to eight replacement players "on the bench", numbered 16–23. Players are not restricted to a single position, although they generally specialise in just one or two that suit their skills and body types.
