Dali River
The Dali River ( zh, t=大里溪, p=Dàlǐxī) is a river located in Taichung, Taiwan, flowing from the west of the city in a southwest direction before emptying into the Dadu River. Since the river is prone to flooding after heavy rain, the course of the river has been significantly altered. Currently, the Dali River begins in Dakeng, Beitun District at the end of the Dakeng River, and merges into the Buzi River at Buzi, Beitun District. The Buzi River then turns back into the Dali River in Taiping District near Xinfeng Bridge, passing through Dali, Wufeng, and Wuri before emptying into the Dadu River at Taichung's border with Changhua. Taiping District, Taichung
Taiping District () is an inner city district in the eastern part of Taichung, Taiwan. It is the second largest district in Taichung City after Heping District. History After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China in 1945, Taiping was organized as a rural township of Taichung County. On 1 August 1996, Taiping was upgraded to a county-administered city due to its population. On 25 December 2010, Taichung County was merged with Taichung City and Taiping was upgraded to a district of the city. Levee
A levee (), dike (American English), dyke (Commonwealth English), embankment, floodbank, or stop bank is a structure that is usually earthen and that often runs parallel to the course of a river in its floodplain or along low-lying coastlines. The purpose of a levee is to keep the course of rivers from changing and to protect against flooding of the area adjoining the river or coast. Changhua
Changhua (Hokkien POJ: ''Chiong-hòa'' or ''Chiang-hòa''), officially known as Changhua City, is a county-administered city and the county seat of Changhua County in Taiwan Province of the Republic of China. For many centuries the site was home to a settlement of Babuza people, a coastal tribe of Taiwanese aborigines. Changhua city is ranked first by population among county-administered cities. It is part of the Taichung–Changhua metropolitan area, which is the second largest in Taiwan. Wuri District () is a suburban district in southern Taichung, Taiwan. Both of the two north–south freeways (National Freeway 1 and National Freeway 3) pass through Wuri. Wufeng District
Wufeng District () is a suburban district in southern Taichung, Taiwan. It is the location of Taiwan Provincial Consultative Council. Wufeng is a mainly agricultural town. It was heavily damaged by the Jiji earthquake on 21 September 1999, which caused around 100 deaths in the town. The 921 Earthquake Museum of Taiwan, which commemorates the giant quake, is built at what was formerly Guangfu Junior High School, which was destroyed when part of the school was uplifted by the Chelungpu Fault during the quake. Dakeng
Dakeng (traditional Chinese: 大坑, Hanyu Pinyin: dàkēng) is the area that contains most of the mountain region of Beitun District, Taichung, Taiwan. Hiking and Biking Trails Dakeng also boasts a variety of mountain biking and hiking trails. These trails are managed by the Taichung City Government. A total of 10 hiking trails exist. Each trail varies in difficulty in ascent and descent; with trails 6-10 being more flat and suitable for beginners while trails 1-5 are more vertical and pose more of a challenge. The Water Resources Agency (WRA; ) is the administrative agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Taiwan (ROC) responsible for water-related affairs. History The creation of Water Resources Agency dated back in 1946 under the Ministry of Water Conservancy of the central government of the Republic of China.
