DFV-Supercup
The DFV-Supercup (also known as ''Pokal des Deutschen Sportechos'') was the super cup of East German football, played between the winners of the DDR-Oberliga and the FDGB-Pokal. History It was originally planned to start in 1988, but was postponed as BFC Dynamo had won both competitions. An edition was played in 1989, with the Cup Winners BFC Dynamo beating Dynamo Dresden 4–1. The competition was not played in 1990 with German reunification underway, and an all-German Deutschland Cup was played instead. In 1991, the winners of the last East German titles, Hansa Rostock, along with cup finalists Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt, entered the DFB-Supercup. Thomas Doll
Thomas Jens Uwe Doll (born 9 April 1966) is a German professional football manager and a former football player who is the current Manager of Persija Jakarta. He played as an attacking midfielder for F.C. Hansa Rostock, BFC Dynamo, Hamburger SV, Lazio, Eintracht Frankfurt and Bari. Club career Doll began playing football for the youth teams of local side BSG Lokomotiv Malchin. He was allowed to join the youth academy of football club F.C. Hansa Rostock in 1979. Doll joined the first team of F.C. Hansa Rostock in 1983. He made his debut for F.C. Hansa Rostock in the DDR-Oberliga away against BSG Stahl Riesa in the third matchday of the 1983-84 DDR-Oberliga on 27 August 1983. F.C. Bodo Rudwaleit
Bodo Rudwaleit (born 3 August 1957) is a German former football goalkeeper who played as goalkeeper for the record champion BFC Dynamo from 1976 to 1989. Career Early years Rudwaleit began playing football for enterprise sports community BSG Einheit Woltersdorf. He joined the youth academy of football club BFC Dynamo in 1969. Playing career Rudwaleit made his first appearance with the first team of BFC Dynamo as a 19-year old against FC Carl Zeiss Jena in the eighth matchday of the 1976-77 DDR-Oberliga on 22 October 1976. He was known for being unusually tall for a football player at the time, with an height of 2.02 meters. He then became the first-choice goalkeeper during the 1977-78 season. Hendrik Herzog
Hendrik Herzog (born 2 April 1969) is a German football coach and a former player. Herzog won several titles with BFC Dynamo during the East German era. He joined Schalke 04 after German reunification. He has worked as kit manager for Hertha BSC. Career Herzog was in Halle. He began playing football for the youth teams of SG Dynamo Halle-Neustadt and then SG Dynamo Eisleben. Herzog was then allowed to join the youth academy of football club BFC Dynamo in 1981. Herzog won the 1986 UEFA European Under-18 Championship with East Germany after defeating Italy 3-1 in the final on 15 October 1986. 17-year-old Herzog made his first appearance with the first team of BFC Dynamo away against FC Vorwärts Frankfurt in the 14th matchday of the 1986-87 DDR-Oberliga on 28 February 1987. Bernd Schulz
Bernd Schulz (born 12 February 1960) is a German former professional footballer. Schulz joined the youth academy of BFC Dynamo in 1975 and made his professional debut for BFC in the 1979–80 season. He was part of the all-conquering team of the 1980s. He won nine consecutive East German titles, two Cups and the DFV-Supercup between 1979 and 1989. He also won three caps for East Germany in 1984 and 1985, scoring one goal. He ended his career in 1993, having played for SG Bergmann-Borsig and 1. FC Union Berlin. ''Deutsches Sportecho'' was an East German daily sports newspaper of the Deutscher Turn- und Sportbund (DTSB). History ''Deutsches Sportecho'' was first published on 5 May 1947. The paper had a circulation of 185,000 copies. The paper sponsored the association football competition DFV-Supercup (''Pokal des Deutschen Sportechos'') in 1989. The FDGB-Pokal (Freier Deutscher Gewerkschaftsbund Pokal or Free German Trade Union Federation Cup) was an elimination football tournament held annually in East Germany. It was the second most important national title in East German football after the DDR-Oberliga championship. The founder of the competition was East Germany's major trade union. Rainer Ernst (born 31 December 1961) is a German former professional footballer who amassed 56 caps for the East Germany national team. He was the last captain of East Germany before the political change. Club career Youth career Ernst was born in Neustrelitz. He began his football career when he was seven years old, at the youth side of BSG Empor Neustrelitz where his father Joachim "Jochen" Ernst became his first trainer. His Father Jochen stayed by his side at SG Dynamo Neustrelitz and in the training centre from 1973 to 1975. He participated in the V.Kinder- und Jugendspartakiade 1975 Berlin, with the Neubrandenburg student district selection as the captain and his father as the trainer.
